What are some directors who have entered the film industry in the past ten to fifteen years or so that you think will have a major influence on the film industry 25 years from now? Put more simply, what young directors now are the next Spielbergs, Scorceses, etc?

Hi Matt and Alex,

Do you guys have any good examples of terrible shows with great pilots or vice-versa? I remember watching the pilot for the Aaron Douglas' show "The Bridge" almost a year before the actual first season aired and thought it was great. The rest of the season was complete crap however and ended up cancelled by CBS after 3 episodes.

Hey Matt and Alex,

Is there anything that draws you out of a film? For me its when I see a ragged group of men all muddy and dirty and when one of them opens their mouth they have sparkiling white teeth.

Thanks

What with Billy Crystal being the newly announced, safe Oscar host choice, I was just wondering who your guy's dream host would be. Oh look, I didn't use a question mark. Still a question, regardless!

Why hello there

With the recent release of Modern Warfare 3 and complaints about how its the same, why don't we hear the same complaint about movies like Mission Impossible,James Bond or something. Conversely what films have manged to make drastic changes over the franchises life span and stay popular.

Any interest in Boardwalk Empire? The first season was very pretty but nothing happened and that probably put a lot of viewers off. The current season has been superb however.

Any thoughts on the recent news about watching TV through Boxee without cable. I know it is just glorified over the air TV, but is it a pre-requisite for the eventual downfall of required cable and a trend toward a la carte cable? Or is this just a question for the Tested guys?

Hey guys,

Do you know of any examples of two seemingly unrelated movies sharing a sequel, thereby funneling both narratives into a single story? I've always found this idea intriguing but of course it would be difficult to pull off. The closest I can think of is Tarantino's films all arguably taking place in the same world and recurring bit characters popping in from film to film. I know this may be challenging to think up on the spot but do any two movies come to mind you'd like to see cross paths in a shared sequel?

Hello Matt and Alex,

What you guys think changed on MTV that it managed to Produce such good shows like Awkward and Death Valley and even bringing back Beavis and Butt-head?

So it seems like Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes again. Would you approve of a repeat of his style that he did last year?

Alex, seeing how you're a big wrestling fan, I was wondering what is your opinion on the film, The Wrestler.

Matt and Alex,

Can you guys think of any movies that you disliked because of their heavy-handedness that are are either generally well thought of, or deal with important ideas in culture?

Spoilers for American History X:

I bring this up because I just watched American History X for the first time, and I feel like, despite its message, which is undeniably important, it was way too heavy-handed and obvious. I find it unbelievable that within the twenty-four hours between the time that Ed Norton's character came out of prison and the end of the film, he would be able to convince his teenage brother to give up a way of thinking that he clearly had devoted his life to. And that is just one example I can think of.

Hey Screencats

Do you have any movies from well before your time that clicked with you right away? I just watched The Muppet Movie for the first time and despite growing up with limited exposure to the Muppet-tology, I'm pretty smitten with it .

Keep up the good ramblin' and snarkin'

Have you ever disliked a film, only to return to it and find you now have a fondess for it or vice versa?

Hey guys,

What's up? I am recently playing Skyrim, I don't know if you guys are playing it as well. It's a fantastic game, and I usually hate RPGs. I was wondering, besides Lord of the Rings, what other fantasy movies would you recommend that really capture the look and feel of those kinds of fantasy RPGs, like Skyrim or Dungeons and Dragons? OBVIOUSLY, don't recommend the actual D&D movie with that EMBARRASSING performance by Jeremy Irons.

Hello Matt, Alex and possible guest.

I've always been fascinated by future gadgets and technologies shown in films, for example the eye scanners in Blade Runner. But I'd love to know what one piece of technology or gagdet as been most memorable to you.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

Hey Matt and Alex,

Is there one movie that you seem to be the only one who likes? Personally I love Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds and people always laugh when I mention it.

Keep up the great work!
