Trailers recently have been getting worse and worse. However, the recent Girl with the Dragon Tattoo american remake trailer I actually really enjoyed and reminded me of other great and memorable movie trailers out there.  There is an art to doing trailers well.  I think that Hitchcock's The Birds trailer has to be one of my all time favourites.  Can you remember any of your favourite trailers out there?

The movie "WIN WIN" with Paul Giamatti came out on DVD last week; and I don't know if I should watch it. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a very high rating of 94%, but Eric Pope only gave it 2 out of 5 stars here in this site.
Have any of you two seen it? What's your take on it?

And also, have there been other movies where the general opinion at Rotten Tomatoes and Screened are that contrasting?

Howdy Matt and Alex!

Are there any movies that you guys are ashamed or, at the very least, hesitant to admit you didn't like very much? I say so because I am a huge hockey fan, but I could never admit that I didn't like Slap Shot to other hockey nuts without upsetting a few people.

Anyways, I love the site, keep up the great work! I would still be a casual movie fan that misses out on a lot of great stuff without you guys.

(Also, you can totally ignore this second question, but are there any plans for the site to have a dark background?)

(re-post from last week)

Hi Matt and Alex,

I just finished watching Taxi Driver for the first time. Based on the way in which people and other movies quote that one line regularly, I had always assumed "Are you talkin' to me?" was the product of Robert DeNiro being a badass, but it turns out it's the ramblings of Robert DeNiro being a crazy person.

My question is, can you think of other notable movie lines which are regularly taken out of context?

Hey Rorie and Alex

I'm curious what your favorite PT Anderson film is.

My personal favorite is Punch-Drunk Love, followed closely by Boogie Nights. I also like  Magnolia  a great deal, but I'm not as in love with There Will Be Blood as most people seem to be. Day-Lewis was great in it,  and I can see why people like it so much, but compared to his other films, I thought it was just okay.   I haven't seen Hard Eight.

Hey guys.

Having just read the 80's retrospective feature Alex did a while back, I was wondering how you guys think people might look back as decade defining movies (or decade defining movie characteristics) for the 2000's and early 2010's?

What do you think is the best depiction of the afterlife or heaven/hell in a movie?

Personally, I think of Vincent Ward's What Dreams May Come and Danny Boyle's A Life Less Ordinary as having the best depictions of heaven.

Hello Rorie, Alex and/or Matt,
the last podcast got into a brief discussion about some books. I think one of the Whiskey Media sites could definitely squeeze in a book section. I know it's time consuming and Whiskey Media generally has a youth target audience but the section wouldn't have to be intensive or anything. Maybe once a month make a list or name a favourite and talk about it on the podcast.
Examples: Your favourite book about the post apocalypse, your top 3 vampire novels, your favourite book last year etc.
Keep it fun and inspire the youth!

What footprint has the baby boomer generation left on the film industry and what legacy do you think this new generation of filmmakers will leave on the industry?

I was watching Breaking Bad last night and noticed a deal of product placement where pinkmen is playing RAGE and it made me wonder about the representation of video games in TV and Film. Maybe this is more slated for the Bombcast but I wanted to know what the screenpups thought about it. My question is basically what do you think the worst video game (Fictional or not) in a TV show or movie has been.

For the record I didn't think RAGE was represented poorly in Breaking Bad although I'm pretty sure he was using a light gun which RAGE doesn't support and it oddly dates the series since it takes place over a year.

Hi Rorie and hopefully, Alex from the day after tomorrow

now that "The Help" wins the box office for the third week and thus holds the title of "longest 1st place box office film of 2011". And the fact that "Avatar" was the "longest 1st place box office film of 2010", what makes a film about white people curing racism have such staying power? And what is the 2012 movie of the same genre?

With the release of Jack and Jill nearing our impending doom, will our civilization finally go extinct or are we in store for something much worse when Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked makes its presence felt?

Hey guys, love the podcast.
I've been wondering, when you review films do you take notes during/after the film or just go from memory?

Submissions can take several hours to be approved.
