Hi Matt and Alex, while watching the Planet of the Apes remake rematch my mind kept coming back the same question: What the fuck happened to Tim Burton? A lot of his early work was inventive and refreshing, but then around the time of Planet of the Apes he fell into the trap of "dark re-imaginings" or stuff that was dark for the sake of being dark. Now he's even going back and remaking one of his own movies, and I'm sure he's just going to attempt to make it darker. What do you think of him as a director and do you think its possible for him to ever come close to the level of creativity he once exhibited?

Tested has CES, which is the biggest tech event of the year.

Giant Bomb has E3, which is the biggest video game event of the year.

So if Screened has a major yearly event for movies that you were to go all out for, and money is not an option, what would it be? Or does film not have this type of event, since they're spread out over the year through festivals. Or is ComicCon the only choice, even though its quality varies year to year?

Hi Matt and Alex, has there ever been a scene in a film you otherwise like that is disturbing enough to you that it puts you off the rest of the film?

Mine would be the scene in Spiderman 2 where Doc Ock's tentacles murder the surgeons in the hospital. Maybe because a lot isn't shown, but my memory of it is grisly and violent enough that it makes me squeamish enough that I don't really like to watch the film. Any thoughts?

I was driving back from the cinema the other day and my friend and I were talking about the upcoming Fassbender frenzy the UK is getting (just got Shame, getting Haywire soon, still haven't got A Dangerous Method.) We got on to my friends film crushes which align somewhat with Screened's and we started to try and come up with ideas that might bring together Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, JGL and Ryan Gosling.

All we could come up with was a vague feeling of spy action thriller, but I'd like to know what you would come up with! (yes, you may bring Emma Stone to the party if you want)

So Screencats how much do you think experiences during movies can colour your opinion of the movie you're watching and how would this factor into a review?

I just had a really great time watching Midnight in Paris sitting beside a guy who would react in cheerful groans to everything that happened; my friends and I found ourselves almost unable to contain our laughter. The movie itself was very good but I can't help but think this added an extra something to the movie going experience.

(Also noticed you haven't seen Midnight In Paris which I'd think you guys, especially Rorie, would love.)

Go raibh maith agat!

Greetings guys! So what is up with this "trend" of going to websites for more information at the end of movies? Outside of The Devil Inside, I remember Apollo 18 doing this as well. Do the studios think people will really care that much to seek out more information on the movie's events? Or do they feel they can perhaps gauge interest using these sites to then set up potential franchises (which, in both these movies cases, would seem pretty hard to do).

Thanks!

Hey Matt & Alex,

After watching The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo last weekend, I decided to go revisit David Fincher's previous work. I can honestly say that outside of Benjamin Button, I still enjoy all of his films. This includes the often forgotten The Game and Panic Room. How would you rate Fincher's catalog so far from Best to Worst and what do you think about his next film being a new version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea?

P.S. Would Seven ever be considered for a Besties?

I had no interest whatsoever with Hulu Plus until I recently learned that they have some kind of partnership with the Criterion Collection, and therefore have hundreds of Criterion movies on there. Obviously, that's a ton of great movies, and I'm considering trying out a Hulu Plus membership, or at least the one week free trial. Do you guys have any experience with Hulu Plus or any thoughts on their abundance of Criterion movies? Keep up the good work!

Dear Matthew and Alexander,

A friend of mine has recently finished the whole run of "The Wire" after my constant pestering. During our discussion, he brought up his Post-Wire syndrome: the dissatisfied mental state towards other tv shows acquired after viewing the entirety of "The Wire" series. Have either of you experienced PWS, or a similar analogue related to another show or movie?

Keep on trucking.

Hearing Alex talk casually about interviewing the likes of Michael Fassbender and Nicolas Winding Refn, I have to ask: is there a celebrity (actor, writer, director etc) that you could see yourself geeking out over to the point that you'd have trouble keeping your composure in an interview? I'd like to think that if I met the likes of Warren Ellis or Mike Nelson that I'd keep my bladder in check, but I also know that's a lie.

Hi Matt and Alex

Is there any room for a surreal tv series on tv today? The first season of twin peaks is one of my favorite season of tv and I lliked John from Cincinnati probably a bit more than I should have. Are there any other series I should watch?

Keep up the good work

also, A Movie by an Icelandic director is the number 1 movie in america, never thought i would say that.

Til hamingu (congratulations) Baltasar
