I was re-watching We're Back, an animated film about dinosaurs coming back to our modern times. I was really surprised by how dark the movie was, as this was aimed towards kids. Do you guys have any examples of movies or shows that you watched as a kid or were aimed at kids (outside of Ghostbusters, Alex) that featured dark material? The one that comes to mind for me the most was The Lion King.

hey BTSD crew, i got a question:

For years now i have gotten into small arguements with friends and family about which is better, The Terminator or Terminator 2. Everybody always seems to prefer Terminator 2 to 1 and i am forever saying that they are wrong and Terminator 1 is the far superior movie in every single way.

I would like to know which one do you prefer please and your reasons why.

My thoughts:  The first movie is my all time favourite movie and i have loved that movie ever since i was a young lad (with Robocop coming in at 2nd) and i think that Arnold is a better 'bad' Terminator than a 'good' Terminator. Don't get me wrong, i do love the second Terminator movie and it is up there as one of the better sequels made but it pales in comparison to the first one. I sorta see why people would think the second one is better because it is a more expensive and 'cleaner' movie with better special effects compared to the first films gritty night-time look but that is what i love about the first film, the film is a lot darker and in essence a bit scarier and the plot is simply way better and the sequel is a sequencial 'rip off' of the first film and lacks the tension the first film has.

Opinions would be great, thanks guys love the podcast and the site.

Hey Screened crew,

I was wondering if you guys are familiar with the Bourne movies? I watched the first Bourne about a month ago even through it's been sitting in my house for years, ALL THREE OF THEM ARE IN MY COLLECTION! I recently popped in the Bourne Supremacy the other day and quickly turned it off,  I didn't feel like I need to watched another Bourne movie. Did they really need to make three Bourne movies? Myabe it's becuase they are all based inside one giant book, i don't know, just a random thought I had.

Netflix gave "Asylum" a 1.3 Stars according to how you rate movies. Now my wife, she saw the movie and hated it. She still rated it a 3. She says that she wouldn't want Netflix to stop suggesting other similar themed movies just because she hated a bad movie.

Ex. If she had given "Asylum" a 1 star, then it wouldn't have recommended "Sublime," a movie that she enjoyed.

Your thoughts on how Netflix rates movies?

Hi Screencast,

On a trip to Japan I saw a Korean film called 'Lump Sugar'. I don't know if it was the altitude or the film but I loved this movie however I am unable to find it anywhere. Being someone in Australia do you guys have any suggestions on how someone would be able to obtain this film?

Are there any films that you have found hard to obtain due to their origin? (if there are any from Australia you want let me know and I'll send them your way).

Hi Screencast,

I'm currently at University training to be a history teacher. I'll definitely be looking for films to show classes to make history more exciting. What films/TV shows do you remember watching in History class, and what would you show if you were a history teacher?
I fondly remember watching lots of Blackadder Goes Forth!

A quick question here,

What movie was ruined for you by the volume being to loud at the movie theater? For me it was Hellboy 2.  The sound was up so loud that my ears were almost ringing by the end.

Hey Alex, Matt and possible guest,

I've heard you guys complain on last week's podcast about people talking loudly in movie theaters and I was wondering what do you guys generally do in those situations? It's common knowledge that people who are loud and obnoxious in movie theaters are assholes, but most people (including myself) let it slide because yelling at those kinds of people hardly ever makes them shut up. So my question is: Have you guys ever told someone to keep quiet in a movie theater, and if so, what happened? Thanks.

I know you guys did a video on upcoming movies, but I was wondering if any Oscar bait was coming out that interested you, maybe not enough to put in your top five, but still there.

Hey guys

What do you do when watching the intro to DVD's (the company logos, Dolby Digital, copyright warning etc). Do you try to skip them as I do (often to no avail), do you watch them patiently or do you spend the time getting yourselves settled?

Thanks,
Dan from Blue Mountains, Australia
