Screencast

Screened is really growing up. First a Community Twitter and now a Community Podcast. At least that's what I'm hoping will happen. Even though I'm trying to spear head this little project it wouldn't be a Community Podcast if the Community wasn't involved. I ran my own podcast for a couple of months but it was very duck tape and super glue so I'm going to rely on the expertise of the community to help me out. Below is a shopping list of things that we need. If in any way you can help out please post and we'll start morphing a podcast out of it. Also I'm a fan of doing things as professionally as possible. I've listened to other community podcasts and their practically unlistenable, here on Screened I wish to change that trend.

1. We Need a name. ScreenedPups is the name of our twitter so maybe something similar but not exactly that. Once we have some candidates I'll set up a poll that everyone can vote on.
2. We need voices. I'm thinking of two or three permanent members with two revolving chairs filled by different people in the community. Everyone should have a chance to get on the show but at the same time their should be some consistency. PM me if you would like to be a perma member. Remember that you need to be talkative and opinionated about everything movies and TV, we're still trying to make an entertaining show. Also decent internet connections help. We would be doing this over skype so if we keep losing you it would make life a little difficult. Schedules might become an issue too but that's something we can work out later.
3. I'm not very tech savvy. I'm good up to a point but some concepts escape me. We need to host the podcast ourselves (needs to be free) and create an RSS feed as well as get a iTunes account connected to the podcast. If you know what your doing and think you can set this up with ease post here or pm me and we'll get to work.
4. I listen to a lot of podcasts and what separates the good podcasts from the bad is structure. What we need is segments. Sections of the podcast where we talk about specific things like what we've been watching and news. Again this is a community podcast so please post what you think would make good segments. Off the top of my head some topics could be a mini community showcase, a weekend box office pool, or even a discussion of the Screening room's movie of the week (which is community ran now by the way)

I'm sure that's not all we need and I'm just not thinking of it right now, so if I have forgotten anything then please point it out and call me an idiot.

This sounds awesome! Some ideas for segments could be general film news, recent TV and movies, and things watched recently on Netflix. Also, maybe an off-topic section with games, tech, or other junk.

I'll help out in any way possible, I wouldn't mind being a member but my mic is a simple macbook mic so I don't know the quality.

Sounds like a great idea, what you're doing here. I'm not much of a Screened contributor, if at all, but if you ever need a voice for talking about game shows or reality competitions that don't involve romance, fashion, or weight loss....yo.

I work at my College radio station which happens to be an internet station and I host a show about movies and TV. So I dunno, MAYBE I would be someone you would be interested in having?

Also, Screened Pupcast is a pretty incredible name.

If you're going to do a community podcast then I think you need to do something that is focused on just that: Screened's community. I don't think stuff like news discussion really serves a place since that's what I listen to Behind the Screened Door for. That information doesn't need rehashing. Just my personal opinion anyway.
