Screencast

I know it had been said before that they were still busy with transition, but I would like a podcast or video feature soon please. That would be nice.

I think we have to give them more time. It's been a slow transition but there is a long way to go before we get anything like that. The site still needs more work done on written features and I think none of the staff seem keen on being a face of the site. Eventually they might hire people who will present well and have enough presentable people to do a podcast but that is a lot of hires from now. I imagine the powers that be might be seeing how the site does before investing in it more so it may never go beyond what we have now.

Who knows what will happen, but we shouldn't expect such a quick development having seen such a slow one so far.

BTW I'd rather have slow development than no development!

Yep, agreed. It's almost been two months now. Kinda sucks that the video that headlines the site now is about Grown Ups.

@ashogo: It's not like they are sitting around with green screens, video producers, cameras, and recording equipment around.

Unfortunately we just have to wait, sadie and stacy have been pretty straightforward about everything and I assume are trying their best.

@FinalDasa: And right now it's only a small handful of people doing things, but not necessarily in collaboration. Screened started with video and audio ready to go. I suspect it will be awhile before we get any video or audio. Hang tight.

@FinalDasa: of course not, but it's been a while now and they've barely communicated with us what's going on, outside of a few empty reassurances with little to back them up. We have been waiting. We've asked them multiple times to give us some sort of personality for the site, but the editors continue to be mostly faceless and detached entities. They don't tell us what's happening. It doesn't feel like any progress is being made on the site itself, from videos to fixing the many wiki bugs.

If they eventually get there, great, but I'm not really holding my breath waiting for them any longer when they seem so uncommitted to the site. Whatever. It's not like I even care that much.

Welp, I know that Gangly has said he's going to try and get video features back up, and I'm working on some kind of an audio thing. Until the new staff gets these together on their own we may have to just make Screened a total DIY site.

@ashogo: Maybe there is a lack of updates because there is nothing to update. They aren't in control of the website just like Rorie wasn't in complete control. They can't solve every problem by themselves just like WM never solved every problem. I understand the frustration and I totally agree that there should be some progress by now. But we can't expect miracles for a site with limited traffic and a small user base.

For now I'd say do what a lot of amazing users have begun to do, keep commenting, keep editing, and keep coming to Screened. You can even take the extra step and create your own content if you'd like. Prove to BB that Screened is a site worthy of a podcast and video content.

I too am pretty bummed about the lack of video stuff. Sure they might not have a green screen and editing stuff or whatever, but that's not at all necessary to make a video these days. I GUARANTEE you that everyone working for this site owns some device that could record moderate quality sound and video. Look at Jeff's "Jar" videos over on GiantBomb. Shot with some crappy thing (old phone?) in his fucking bedroom. They're interesting, hilarious, and the only skill required is him being a cool dude.

I also have a nagging feeling that, since the two main writers for the site refused to even give us their real names, they especially won't want to appear in a video. But that's not a fact, just my suspicion.

Anyway, the larger point is that we have an amazing community, and while it may not be as special as a video from the old dudes, I know we can make some pretty great diy stuff in its place. STAY TUNED!

@FinalDasa: Yes, that's what I've been, and plan to continue, doing. We'll be fine as long as we have a willing community.

I gave the site a fair chance after the transition, but all the heart is completely gone. There's no flavor to any of the posts, and almost zero interesting content. Have the editors even given their names yet?

It's sad, we had a good thing going.

@CharAznable: Their names are in their usernames I'm pretty sure. And both reviewers have their names out there, one is even from the community.
