1600 PENN is an early April Fool's joke right, NBC?

If you have watched any show on NBC or any Universal Studios owned channel then you have seen an ad for this show:

Just wow! It looks like a failed pilot for a bad early 90's sitcom. It is like someone at NBC heard that Veep was popular and well reviewed but rather then actually watching an episode just assumed it was a wacky sitcom about the Vice President and not a political comedy from the same people behind In the Loop. So said mystery NBC employee figures that whats better then a Vice President and her staff? A President and his entire WACKY FAMILY and fat slovenly idiotic mooching brother/in-law living in the MOTHER FUCKIN' White House! They also have the nerve to have some unheard of critic claim that the show is not only comparable but better then Modern Family. Say what you will about Modern Family (I love it) but it at least has a basis in reality. Does anyone remember the short lived Trey Parker and Matt Stone show That's My Bush!? This is literally that show played straight!

So this has to be an elaborate viral marketing campaign for the finale of 30 Rock or the season premiere of Community right? I mean it can't be real can it?

I saw on commercial for 1600 Penn where they did a walk and talk joke from The West Wing. Are there a lot of ppl out there who will get where that's from and why this show making it is funny? Also it wasn't funny.

If this is a joke, it's a bland one.

This is the first I'm hearing of it and I hope it's a joke. Other wise someone is wasting money.

Anyone who has been watching 30 Rock knows that an on going storyline for the final season is that Jack Donaghy is intentionally trying to get NBC to tank in ratings. This feels like one of those fake shows created for that purpose. So who wants to bet this show will last as long as Animal Practice? Don't remember Animal Practice? You and billions of people are not alone. Watch this trailer and remember that this show is partially responsible for the delay of Season 4 of Community and try not to shake your head in disgust.

Do you know how many sitcom pilots NBC had to write, cast, shoot, and test market before they decided out of all those potential shows that this is the one they wanted to run? Can you believe this shit?

Even UPN back in the day would of passed on this show and they ran Homeboys in Outer Space !!!

It looks like it could be funny, but I'm not optimistic that it will be.

Maybe this is a alternative prequel too Independence Day? Just think major swerve in season 2 when the aliens show up and they kill everyone. Yea this looks like unimaginative garbage, but hey NBC has said they want to go broad. I consider their bed made now.

Nbc must be doing something right. They currently hold the highest ratings on network television right now: Link

I love it! Their two hits are football and a singing competition.

I want to take bets on A - How soon do you think this will get canceled, and B - How many people do you think will get fired over this?

Post by MrMazz (1,541 posts) See mini bio

@obscurefan: I'm betting it won't be cancelled, it's too long into the season for that I figure. I don't see it lasting till a season 3 though. No one is going to be fired unless this thing bombs super bad in the ratings, I'd put the number at 2 though.

PSHAW, we had a similar thing years ago over here.

Though it did have the decency to be in children's programming.
