I know a lot of people hated the fact that they made as many seasons as they did (especially a 9th), but I really liked the last 10 mins of Scrubs season 8

In particular, the scene where he 'sees' his future on the canvas, that really blew my away. The hallway scene was pretty well done too.

Well a couple come to mind:

NewsRadio, the opener to season #5.

Phil Hartman, who played obnoxious and egocentric newsman, Bill McNeal was murdered in between seasons. When the show came back, the cast had to deal with his loss both within the show and personally. It was very cathartic for the series, the actors and the fans to address his death directly instead of taking the easy way out and saying he went to work somewhere else.

Futurama "Jurassic Bark"

SPOILER WARNING: Click here to reveal hidden content.

In this episode, viewer learn that Philip J Fry had befriended a stray dog back in the 20th Century. Do to a series of events, that dog becomes fossilized and is discovered by Fry in the 30th Century. The Professor suggests that the dog could be cloned however Bender becomes jealous and tosses the fossilized husk into a vat of molten lava. After Bender recants and retrieves the dog, we learn that it died 12 years after Fry was frozen. The show closes with it aging over time waiting for Fry to return. It was a very emotional ending to a episode and is a prime example of what sets the series apart from other animated shows. On a side note, the recent Futurama episode, "A Clockwork Origin" makes reference to that memorable episode when Hermes finds another of Fry's dogs and quickly dumps it before things get too depressing.

@FrozenPeas: Ahhhhh, I really really want to. I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD over here, so I won't get seeing it til October. The wait is horrible! I expect great things though

@PenguinDust: Ahh I loved Jurassic bark, didn't really like the reference in the newest episode feels like it kinda cheapens it. I also really liked the episode with the three leaf clover.
