Improving on the perfection of Mega Piranha will be a feat that will echo throughout the ages.
Improving on the perfection of Mega Piranha will be a feat that will echo throughout the ages.
Live Feed reports today that SyFy and IGN will be launching a new website on Friday, titled B Movie Mogul, that will allow fans to craft their own Saturday night SyFy Original Movie.  Fans will reportedly be given the chance to submit ideas for and vote on just about every detail in the film, from the title, creatures, wardrobe, dialogue and character deaths to promotional tag-lines.

The film that comes out of this exercise in the dangers of democracy will come out some time next year as a two hour feature on the network.

Says Thomas Vitale, exec VP of programming and original movies:

"We constantly have fans e-mailing with compliments, complaints and questions about our movies, and this is a way of involving the fans in a new way. This is where entertainment is going and just the start of many more things of this nature for Syfy."

First thing to be voted on is the concept: 2010 apocalypse story, a Bermuda Triangle-set creature feature or a Roswell, N.M.-set alien movie.

I don't know if you're like me and go to bed every night giving thanks for the existence of the SyFy channel. The movies they produce and show are so consistently, amazingly bad, in the best way possible. Whether we're talking about Mansquito, about a man who is also a mosquito (and stars Parker Lewis himself, Corin Nemec), Sasquatch Mountain, about a mountain full of Sasquatches, Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus, which is about a mega shark that fights a giant octopus and 80s pop star Debbie Gibson, or Mega Piranha, which is about mega piranhas fighting 80s pop star Tiffany, or any of the myriad other amazing films SyFy has produced, you can always bet on one thing. IT WILL BE TERRIBLE. And these were made with actual writers and directors!

I can't wait to see what the hive mind of the internet comes up with. Given how low that bar is set, there's a chance this will be better than the usual fare.

On a separate bad movies note, why doesn't anybody question the existence of Piranha 3D?

Because it stars Richard Dreyfus in a knit hat.

No dice until they confirm that Deborah Gibson and/or Kevin Sorbo are signed on.

A bear is terrorizing a small mid-western town, snatching up sexy young women and eating them. The special Bear Encounter and Extermination Squad (BEES) is sent in, lead by  Lance Hendrickson, to terminate the rogue bear. But when they arrive they realize this is no ordinary bear, it's some super bear created by THE GOVERNMENT to be used as a military weapon. The BEES discover the lair of the evil Dr. Wu-Ching and try to put a stop to the bear menace before it destroys THE WHOLE WORLD. BUT THEN IT TURNS OUT LANCE HENDRICKSON WAS A BEAR ALL ALONG.

SyFy actually is making something somewhat related to SyFy. I thought all they had now was cooking shows and wrestling because if you listen to Craig Engler, the only shows worth a damn on SyFy is Smackdown and Ghost Hunters. I long for the old Sci Fi that had great original programming like Farscape and BSG. All they have now is Caprica and a ton of crap. Its parent network NBC has more sci fi cred then SyFy has now, at least NBC has Chuck.

Just as a warning, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus is not bad in the right ways at all. It has a couple good scenes with ridiculous shark-octopus action but besides that, it is a INCREDIBLY slow moving uninteresting scientific drama that loses any kind of b-movie quality and just becomes straight up boring.

I have this idea for a movie about a killer robot driving instructor who travels back in time for some reason.  He has to make a heart breaking decision whether his best friend lives or dies.  And his best friend is a talking pie!
