TV Shows that lasted a long time but you wish lasted longer

People talk all the time about how shows are stretched out past their expiration date, lasting longer than they should, and tarnishing the memory of earlier, great seasons. Be it the Simpsons, the Office, 30 Rock, or House, very few TV shows go on for more than 6 seasons without resolving their original arcs, and just spend the rest of their time treading old ground and jumping over sharks. The only shows people ever seem to complain about the cancellation of are those that only last a couple seasons (Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, Firefly, Pushing Daisies).

However, are there any shows you feel break this rule? Is there a TV show that lasted more than say, 100 episodes that you still wish you had more of?

The only examples I can think of are 24 and Seinfeld. While both ended not nearly as strong as they began (or in Seinfeld's case, the third season began), they were still fantastic shows with seemingly endless pools for episodes.

Law & Order proper, it should of beaten Gunsmoke's record for 20 seasons. Has anyone seen the UK version? I'm curious to see the Apollo, Martha Jones team up.

The Office.

The West Wing (despite the final season being amazing).

Friends.

House, I loved all eight seasons. The formulaic nature of the show never really bothered me and obviously losing Lisa Edelstein hurt the show but I still really enjoyed the last season.

The original Muppet Show. It ran for 5 seasons and I loved every minute of it. The subsequent revivals, MuppeTelevision (subshow within The Jim Henson Hour) and Muppets Tonight didn't have the same magic that the earlier show had. There was a sincerity to the earlier Muppet Show while the later versions felt more kitschy. Perhaps it's just our changing times, but from the late 70's through the very early 80's, the original Muppet Show felt as real as any variety show on the air.

King of the Hill could of gone a few more seasons.  I think Mike Judge's fight with Fox over the release and distribution of Idiocracy is what ultimately caused the death of King of the Hill.  It also sucks that most of the episodes of the last season never aired on Fox and can only be seen on Adult Swim or on DVD.   I am not going to say King of the Hill was my favorite show but it was consistently decent and didn't drop in quality as much as The Simpsons.   While I wrote this I just remembered Brittany Murphy voiced Luann so maybe it is good in hindsight the show ended when it did.

Joss Whedon has stated in interviews that he had every intention of doing a sixth season of Angel before it was canceled.  Given the finale of Angel the sixth season would of been insane.  I heard they did a sixth season comic similar to the Buffy comic though I hear it is pretty shitty and the art is terrible.

I've seen several seasons of it. It really is quite good and I'd even go as far as saying that it is the best of the Law & Order spin offs. I have nothing against the others it's just that Criminal Intent was never really all that interesting and SVU got old really quick. I have yet to see a couple of the other foreign adaptations though.

Charmed , it was and still is my favourite show. It had a resolved ending that makes me cry everytime I see it. But I still wish it was on our screens! 8 years it lasted and I loved each and every episode.

Cold Case, one of the best cop shows ever. It really is! Definitely deserved the many many more years of fame and success of Law and Order.

Oh, I guess I wasn't thinking of it because it was a reality-type show, but Whose Line is it Anyways should go on forever.
