What to Watch: A Lot of Singing on Glee and The Voice and Probably On RuPaul's Drag Race Too

Get ready for an extremely musical night of television, folks. And by musical, I mean cacophonous.

Apart from what I'm pretty sure is the season finale of Glee--it's 90 minutes, so it had better be--we have the debut of NBC's new probably-not-going-to-get-renewed singing competition, The Voice, in which initial contestants are screened via a "blind audition," meaning the judges just turn around and have to listen to the singing and are unaware as to whether or not the contestant is ugly. Personally, I'll stick to the finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, because drag queens just lip sync, and thus there are no surprises when the vocals are terrible.

Let's see what other, non-musical things the night has in store for us.

Glee

8PM - FOX - Finally, we get a Lady Gaga episode. I mean, since last year. Which was the last time there was a Lady Gaga episode. This time they're performing "Born This Way" though, so it's...uh...relevanter?

The Voice

9PM - NBC - I don't know if it's actually impressive that NBC managed to get talents like Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo and Adam Levine to judge this show, or if it's an accidental indictment of how much free time all those people have. Either way, it's a singing show, so I'm not watching.

RuPaul's Drag Race

8PM - VH1 - I think this season finale may have aired on Logo last night, but I don't even know where Logo is on my cable lineup, and I wouldn't dare pass up an opportunity to talk about the best reality competition show on TV. Seriously, this show is the best.

Repo Games

8PM - Spike TV - Series premiere. Sad people get their cars repossessed and try to save them by answering trivia. This is a real show that someone came up with. And now it's on television. And you can watch it. Huh.

Top Shot

10PM - History Channel - Season finale. In this very special final episode, some people shoot guns.

Deadliest Catch

9PM - Discovery Channel - Crabs.

Late Show with David Letterman

11:30PM - CBS - Two of my favorite people on the planet, Will Ferrell and Greg Duli (of the band The Twilight Singers) are on tonight. I don't watch Letterman, but I will watch this.

the voice is gonna do real good in america even if the show is kinda the same as every other singing show. also the show is real cheap to make :)

Oh man, that Repo show sounds incredible. I might have to watch it just to see the sadness.

Nice going, Repo Games. Way to cash in on the misery of poor people (or possibly just assholes that don't pay their bills)

That RuPaul show is good for a 5-minute chunk of laughs, but I can't take much more than that. It's much too fierce for me.

Yeah, the finale of RuPaul's Drag Race definitely aired last night on Logo.  It is as ridiculous as expected.

I would complain about the amount of horrible shows on TV, but then I realize that it makes it easier for me to watch the good shows.

That's what most reality shows are for, though. Like Intervention or Hoarders.

I think Mark Burnett is EP of The Voice.  Leave it to him to have another runaway reality hit. . .

I think Television companies think we're both sadists and masochists.
