Truly, these were the Halcyon days of Tim Allen.
Truly, these were the Halcyon days of Tim Allen.

We continue to inch ever closer to the precipice of television obscurity, the two-to-three week period when networks all but give up on airing new programming in favor of reruns and whatever holiday films they can get on the cheap. We've still got a few new episodes of things you might enjoy tonight, but you might want to start prepping your Netflix queue for next week's inevitable doldrums. Or maybe start in on that video game backlog. Or start actually reading all those books you downloaded to your Kindle but never started. In all three instances, I'm actually talking about myself. I'm so goddamn awful at doing anything. SIGH...

Inside Story: Santa Clause

8PM - Biography - Apparently, the Biography channel is under the impression that you have fond enough memories of the 1994 Tim Allen Christmas "classic" The Santa Clause that you would want to watch a two-hour behind-the-scenes look at its making. This is not all that bad of a movie, mind you, but who on earth is really looking to understand the minutae of how Tim Allen found his way into a fat suit and fake beard?

The Biggest Loser

9PM - NBC - The two hour live season finale, in which we discover who is the biggest loser. And, also, who lost the most weight. Okay, that wasn't even a zinger. I haven't had my medication today, okay?

Proving God

9PM - History Channel - In two hours tonight, The History Channel will finally provide definitive proof of the existence of God. Or probably not, actually. At least they'll fill two hours of programming. Of that much I'm certain. Whatever.

New Girl

9PM - FOX - Schmidt has an office holiday party, and the roommates attend. Christmas shenanigans ensue, I'm to assume.

Raising Hope

9:30PM - FOX - Tonight's Christmas episode is a spin on It's a Wonderful Life, in which Jimmy sees a world in which he never meets Hope's mom, played by Bijou Phillips. I'm guessing that world is far less hilarious.

Conan

10PM - TBS - Prior to tonight's actual episode of Conan (which features Bob Costas and Nick Frost), a one-hour special of the Best of Conan from 2011 will air. If Masturbating Bear's triumphant return is not on here, I declare shenanigans. Shenanigans!!!!

I'm kinda going off New Girl... there is only so much "Zooey is suchhhh a ditz" I can handle before I am ready to slit my wrists.

While The santa clause isn't at the top of our "family Christmas tradition re-watch list", it is definitely in there as a heart-warming, festivity-feeling funny movie. Sure Tim Allen isn't risque but sometime tame jokes can actually be funny too.

Most Christmas movies are renowned for being sappy, rather childish and very farfetched with the story twists/connections/explanations.

But at the end of the day are you really watching those sorts of movies to watch the movie, or are you watching these sorts of movies because of the people you watching them with?

Has Justin Long stopped showing up on New Girl? Because I've stopped watching whilst he brings his snarky, "I'm awkward so you're supposed to find that charming and/or funny" schtick to this otherwise great show.

I will be checking out History Channel too. Seems insane. And a nice contrast to their programming earlier today, "Engineering an Empire: Rome", which was actually fact based and always interesting. It's so sad to see where History Channel was and where it is now...that is, wherever sad place a channel must be to give Larry the Cable Guy his own show. Ugh.

@vinsanityv22: Wait...Larry the Cable Guy has a show on the History Channel?! Oh for crying out loud!

His jokes are the oldest thing on that network these days.

That is just so sad.

Santa Clause is literally one of the worst movies I've had the displeasure to sit through. Its eye-bleeding bad

I would rather have an Inside Story to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. That would have made much more sense. Hell, even A Christmas Story episode would be awesome.
