Did you catch the premiere of Love Bites last week? No? Didn't think so; only a couple million people bothered to tune in, probably because no one knew what the hell it was, thus dooming it to a quick cancellation. I wouldn't be surprised to see them yank it off the air after this week, but who's to say what's in NBC's head these days. The backstory of the series' development is actually pretty interesting; apparently it was filmed so long ago that almost everyone involved in it has moved on to other series already. So I guess a renewal was never really in the cards.
Cancellation is not among the fears of the showrunners for So You Think You Can Dance, which is chugging along in its eighth season with another two-hour episode tonight. You know what? I can't dance. I don't even think I can dance. When I see people who are good at dancing I get a little bit jealous; if I ever have a son I'm going to make goddamn sure that he can cut a rug. So this show offers little to me.
In cableland, Animal Planet has the awdorable series called Too Cute! Kittens on as a repeat at 8 PM, followed by repeats of America's Cutest Cat 2010 and America's Cutest Dog 2010. Guess what I'll be watching tonight?
Of course, the king of the airwaves tonight will be Game 5 of the Heat-Mavericks series. It's been a heck of a series thus far, with a lot of close finishes that haven't felt too heavily influenced by the refs. Whatever the outcome of Game 5, though, you can bet that some suspicious calls from the zebras will ensure that the other team wins in Game 6. That crafty old David Stern will ensure that a Game 7 series materializes, mark my words.
