1. Modern Family

9:00pm on ABC - Season Finale We finally find out if Cam and Mitchell will adopt another baby….I hear it might be a boy and he might be adorable.

2. American Idol: The Search for a Superstar

8:00pm on FOX - Finale You might not care about the winner (and I don't either), but American Idol has come to have some pretty awesome (and surprising) musical finales, so could be worth watching just for those. Rihanna will perform, and I guess many more.

3. Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23

9:30pm on ABC - Season Finale James loses it when he finds out that Dean Cain has a bigger dressing room than he does…now that is kind of funny.

4. Revenge

10:00pm on ABC - Season Finale In the season finale of Revenge…Emily gets a lot of Revenge. Hmm...shocking.

Marathon to Start:

1. The Wire

Seasons 1 - 5 on Netflix DVD

(it's not on instant, but is worth the extra trouble)

It is an interesting experience watching The Wire, and thus I debated putting it on here and especially as the second one, but given that it had pretty low ratings when it aired, I fear a lot of people might have missed it. I can't say that it is always the most "enjoyable" show to watch because the gritty, realistic drama is sometimes very depressing. However, I believe it is one of the greatest drama series that has aired and leaves you wanting more at the end of each episode. It creates a fascinating look at certain parts of American culture, its institutions and how you can be effected by them – no matter what position you are in. (the main character of the show being the city of Baltimore...not even a person). So…whether you embark on this endeavor might depend on what you want to get out of your television watching experience, but for me…it was definitely worth it.

I must say, I really like the idea of "Marathon to Start" as an added feature of What to Watch in the dry TV months.

I don't have Netflix DVDs but would it be worth convincing my roommate to get The Wire? At least season 1 I suppose.

The only answer is... FUCK YES DO IT RIGHT NOW!!!

Also, does Don't Trust the B have anything that sets it apart, or is it just more of the same 2 Broke Girls-esque lowest common sitcom denominator shit?

@FinalDasa: not just season one all of it.

I was waiting for the Wire to pop up in the marathon category. I really should get around to rewatching some of it. I am going to try and watch Revenge over the summer, was always interested just never got around to watching it.

The wire is perhaps the greatest drama ever made. period. end of story.

If Idol finales cut about an hour and 59 minutes from the show, it would be pretty good.

@rav: Its fantastic linear storytelling has me occasionally upset when other series toy with their timelines. Such an incredible show.

@MrMazz: Definitely watch Revenge when you get the chance. It was my favorite new show of this year.

Also, Omar coming!

Just re-watched The Incredible Hulk, and it has the fantastic actor who play Omar in The Wire for about five seconds.

The Wire is one of the greatest dramas ever put to film. A true masterpiece.

It can not be said enough times: The Wire is a masterpiece. If you haven't seen it, watch it NOW.

Ha! Yeah, um, I guess that didn't really make sense. Sorry. I was just referring to one of the best ever scenes in a TV show, period...

No it makes perfect sense, I was quoting McNulty. Also yes, that scene was the best part of season one for me.
