I never saw the first Evil Dead, and after seeing this trailer, I think I am happy with that decision. I am also not qualified to discuss this in terms of comparisons to Sam Raimi's original film, but I can say that it is not lacking in horrifying gore. I leave it to you to...enjoy? Is that the right word?

The Evil Dead trilogy are my all-time favorite films, so I don't know how I feel about this, especially since the script was mostly written by Diablo Cody. This trailer is actually good though, and at the very least it looks like it'll be a better horror film than anything else Hollywood puts out these days. However, without Bruce Campbell, Evil Dead feels kind of pointless.

If this movie ends up being utter shit, at least there's still tree-rape.

Hell FUCKING Yes.

Jesus Christ, that ending was disturbing! I too haven't seen any of the original Evil Dead movies, but this looks like a pretty huge gore fest.

Eh. No thanks. I don't have a problem with Ash being a lady or anything like that, but the originals were campy and funny and the gore was something you could laugh along with, it wasn't disturbing. This new take on it...yeah not for me.

Having watched the first 3 films I just can't take it's seriousness seriously.

I would have left the cabin the moment I saw those dead animals.

My faith in humanity has dwindled once again. The sooner we get smashed by an asteroid the size of Alaska, the better.

horror comedies are impossible to market. it is very likely they are merely marketing as straight-forward horror.

I think this film has the great potential to bring back what a horror movie should be. Yes, it doesn't look like it'll be campy or funny like the original, but this is the first trailer. Maybe some humor will be thrown in, who knows. It certainly was disturbing. I also kept thinking the one girl looked like an older version of a possessed Regan from The Exorcist.

Looks like they're really going to miss the fucking point, which just shouldn't happen in a remake.

I mean, come on.

I'm not quite sure how many people in here really remember much of the original Evil Dead. Let it be known: the first movie was not some comedy horror romp that people seem to be recalling. That was a horror flick. The comedy came in with Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. Yes, the original Evil Dead did have a little less of an intense and dreading feeling to it, but it took itself in a far more serious light than the latter two entries in the franchise.

I'm MORE than okay with this trailer right now. It looks well-produced, it holds the things that it needs to hold, but it is still very much its own movie. Hell, if anything, the Evil Dead franchise prided itself on being different with every flick. This follows in that tradition.

I'm excited for this remake, as it looks good and bloody (which I need in my Evil Dead flick) and it has its own level of gross shit.

Also, the video in the original story was taken down,

@VioletEyedDragon: Yeah possibly. I dunno, my interest in this has dropped pretty dramatically. I'll stick with the originals.

The original film wasn't really campy (at the time), and contains no humor at all. After seeing Bruce Campbell's interview at the NYC Comic Con, I'm fully on board for this. The trailer is fantastic, and for the most part, it looks faithful enough to the original, and extremely gory. Throw in the fact that there is supposedly no CGI effects in this movie, this should be solid. Also, Diablo Cody was brought on to help with some aspects of the script, but she did re-writes. She's not fully responsible for the script of this.

Exactly this. The first Evil Dead was a straight-up horror flick. I think this trailer looks pretty decent, though honestly the gore does nothing for me. If nothing else it looks well-produced.

Here's a working trailer via YouTube.

To be honest, I'm glad that I never saw the original either. *shudders*

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Sidenote: After Cabin in The Woods - a movie that played with the tropes and the genre, I dunno if such a straightforward movie is necessary..specially without its original trademark anti-hero that defied the genre (Bruce Campbell!)
