What was the first movie you remember watching in the theaters? For me it was A Bug's Life. It was the first Pixar movie I watched. And I've loved them ever since. A Bug's Life still holds a special place inside me.

Oh man, the most memorable moment was Men In Black. I was 7 or 8 and it was the first PG-13 film I got to see. But to be honest it was probably Toy Story or The pokemon movie.....if it was the pokemon movie I feel so ashamed.

Empire Strikes Back.  I live in Chicago and traveled to WI to go to this aggrivating little area where they have cottages, fishing, and mini-golf, and a great breakfest restaurant that in popular because they have goats (yes goats) on the roof.  My father took myself and my brother along with my uncle and and three cousins to see Empire Strikes Back and I drove my father crazy.  The movie was long and I was so bored at the Yoda scene and was begging to leave.  Funny thing is this now one of my top 3 movies.  It's the earliest movie I can remember other then something like Bambi or 101 Dalmations.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit was definately the first my dad took me and my sisters to see it only because he had absolutely no idea what to do with us when he was forced to spend time with us... I used to carry around this little plastic case which was meant to carry eggs in it and assigned each slot to a cartoon bullet for my cartoon  gun I pretended to have for months afterwards. I think the next film I saw was either Moonwalker or Last crusade *shrug* whatever came out first.

Peter Pan. I was only about 2 or 3 and I loved it, apparently. Still do.

The Secret of Nimh was the first movie I saw as far as I can remember. Apparently, The Dark Crystal came out later that year. I saw that as well.

I don't remember. I'm going to say maybe Aladdin. Or maybe Toy Story.

I'm pretty sure it was The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which is pretty odd choice by my parents seeing as I would have been 5 and it's not really a film for someone that young.

I can barely even remember what I had for breakfast this morning, much less what the first movie I saw in theaters was.

It was "2001: a space odyssey"  sometime in late '68 or early '69 and I'm not sure why my father thought it would be a good thing to drag a very young child to. I suppose he thought it might be a space-filled adventuresome romp that would keep me occupied with the pretty colors or perhaps he just didn't have a babysitter.

Regardless the more profound effect upon me was actually the soundtrack album he picked up that I became quietly obsessed with as I got older bit by bit. I used to play all the very strange Gyorgy Ligeti pieces and just flip through all the pages of pictures from the film over and over again. It also doubled as a keen Hallowe'en album with those spooky layered vocals.

@HandsomeDead: Indeed I was quite fond of that film and it remains my favorite Disney animated feature to this day. I had the storybook LP that came with a large assortment of chronological stills that I used to play over and over again and flip through as there weren't any VCRs in those days of course. Because of this I'm actually more strongly attuned to every sound of Peter Pan than the actual visuals which is a little odd but expected I suppose consider how often I listened to it.

I have no idea.... But my oldest memory of seeing a movie in a cinema was seeing Bambi when I was five.
