Coming June 2013:
Are you all as stoked as I am?

They have shot multiple endings and aren't even sure which one to use. They have four different writers none of which wants to promote the movie since they don't know if their draft will even be in the final cut. They completely--COMPLETELY--rewrote the screenplay 2/3 OF THE WAY THROUGH SHOOTING!
Now obviously this doesn't necessarily mean the film will be bad. Last year's MIB3 demonstrated that it is totally possible for a movie with this troubled a production to still be good. But I'm not waiting with baited breath.
EDIT: Also, after watching that trailer with my friends I found out they believed it was about an alien invasion. So maybe marketing isn't doing its job so well either.
I'm afraid that I am going to be "that guy" that complains that this looks nothing like the source material.
...This looks nothing like the source material.
However, for the sake of not being a total downer in this thread, I'll just say the book that the movie is based off of is one of my favorites, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Good thing he did read the novel. Anyway,I agree that it does not look anything like the source material, but it would be difficult to adapt an anthology for a mainstream audience.

My apologizes. I was trying to go more for a "people should read the book, it's pretty good," than a direct statement to @Bluecatcinema. If it came off that I was trying to be a jerk, I apologize again.
This movie has cluster fuck written all over it. I hope it is at least rated "R" because if it isn't it will be like one of Roland Emmerich's many PG-13 disaster films where the Earth's population gets decimated but it happens in such a clean and sterile way that it has no impact what so ever.

I highly doubt this will be R. No one pays for a Super Bowl spot for an R-rated film. Sad as it is, in the action genre they just don't make the same money as their PG-13 counterparts.

I know you are probable right but a PG-13 zombie movie just feels wrong. I guess that explains why the actual zombies appear more like a CGI swarm of humanity instead of rotting corpses brought back to life because when there is no more room in Hell the dead shall walk the Earth.

I don't mind PG-13 zombie movies--I think that in an actual zombie apocalypse everything would be happening so quickly it is very likely you would see less gore than in, say, DEAD ALIVE. But, like you, I lament the fact that at this time R-rated action films are out and you can no longer get much of a budget for one. PG-13 action films have there own appeal and I don''t think they should stop making them, but watching DREDD, THE MAN WITH THE IRON FIST, and THE LAST STAND all bomb (hard) makes me sad. Those aren't movies you could make with a PG-13 rating.
