I know that in recent years and especially after Dark Shadows, Tim Burton has begun to let us down a little bit, and we can debate how or why, but it is just true. However, I know that I might be in the minority here, but I am still holding out hope for Frankenweenie. I love the short and feel very fortunate that my favorite Disney theater plays it before The Nightmare Before Christmas every Halloween.

Therefore, the release of this poster just once again re-ignited my excitement. Stop motion animation makes me down-right gitty and Burton seems to have played up the cross-over between a comedy and sci-fi horror film as several of the character names give a nod to the classic horror genre (Elsa Van Helsing, Edgar "E" Gorey, Victor Frankenstein) which gives it another interesting element. My only remaining question is how they are going to be able to flesh the story out, but all I hope is that we will get to experience the return of classic Burton great-ness. Please?!

And in case you missed the trailer:

The trailer didn't do much for me. It was certainly an interesting concept but I have no love for the original so this is all new to me. I can see some Burton fan really enjoying this but I don't see the appeal for me.

It's Frankenstein. WITH A WIENER dog. How could it not be win?

Frankenweenie is no Vincent. Still I kind of wish he had let it lye instead of redoing it as a full feature. The trailer didn't do it for me maybe the kids and HotTopic crowd will be all over it.

I'm decidedly more excited for Paranorman

I actually really enjoyed Dark Shadows, which makes me one of the people out there who liked it. The only flaw I can think of, is that it was only sporadically funny, and tried to be too serious. But other than that, Johnny Depp was great as Barnabus, as well as the rest of the ensemble cast.

I remember seeing the trailer for this, and I thought it looked pretty imaginative. So, I'm hoping Frankenweenie will be good, too.

"Gitty" is not a word in American English! I think you mean to use "giddy." Sorry, but that is two articles of yours I've seen it in and it's driving me crazy.

I'll never trust Tim Burton again. I'm done with him.
