The series opens up with Rachel running out on her wedding and running in to Monica at the Central Perk coffee house. It is later revealed in the pilot episode that Rachel has been cut off from her family money as a result of her decision to run out of her wedding. Rachel ends up living with Monica. We also find out in the pilot episode that Ross's marriage very recently fell apart due to his wife being a lesbian. However not before his wife ends up pregnant with his son, Ben, who is born towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile Ross decides to pursue his feelings for Rachel that he has had ever since high school but things keep getting in the way. Rachel eventually finds out in the season one finale. Chandler accidentally spills the beans while Ross is in China for his job at the museum. Rachel decides to meet Ross at the airport and express her feelings for him as well. However, Ross shows up with a new girlfriend.
Season two opens up at the airport exactly where season one left off. Ross exits the airport terminal with his new girlfriend, Julie, who he meet in college. The beginning of the season deals mostly with Rachel trying to handle her feelings for Ross who is no longer available. Ross founds out about Rachel's feelings for him in episode seven; however, he is not sure whom to choose: Rachel or Julie. Taking Chandler's advice he makes a pros and cons list of who he should choose. Rachel ends up finding the list and it cause a rift between them. Rachel ends up letting go of her anger towards when she founds out about something he did for her in high school. They date for the rest of the season.
Joey finally gets his big break with the role of Dr. Drake Ramoray on Days of our Lives. He ends up moving out and getting his own apartment. However the role turns out be short lived after he tells Soap Opera Digest during an interview that he writes most of his lines. The writers of the show got mad and end up killing off his character by having Dr. Ramoray fall down an elevator shaft. Joey moves back in with Chandler who can not be more thrilled after he ends up with a new room mate who turns out to be insane.
