Plot Synopsis
George Simmons, played by Adam Sandler, is more or less actually Adam Sandler. He has done goofy comedies, stand-up, and is beloved all around. One day, while at the doctors, he learns that he is going to die. He reminisces, and wallows alone in his gigantic mansion, without telling anyone he is sick except for his maids and gardeners. All the while, Ira (Seth Rogen) is having trouble with his aspirations to be a stand up comedian. His roommates are more successful than him, and he has lousy luck with women, topped off with his crappy job at a deli stand with Chuck (THE RZA.) One night, Ira goes on stage after a spontaneous appearance of George Simmons at the local comedy club- Ira mocks George's dark tone with jokes of suicide. While this would hurt most people, George admits that he would have done the same thing. So George hires both Ira and his friend to write jokes for him, though Ira doesn't tell his friend and takes the job by himself, and becomes George's assistant. The two become friends and soon very personal, with Ira convincing George to tell his friends and family of his sickness. He's open about it, and lives life slightly better, all the way to the brink... and then... he is saved. This is great news to all his friends at his congratulations party and such, except for Eminem, who believes it's a mistakes, and asks the ultimate question- now what? George then pursues a lost love, but this time, is he a changed man?
