Game of Thrones is fucked up tonight. This little blond fucking asshole, who the fuck is this kid? I want to beat the shit out of him. Somebody please tell me he dies at some point. Soon. Like, maybe raped to death or something, or he gets that bow of his shot up his anal cavity. He basically told two nude girls to beat the shit out of each other. Like, what the fuck?

Seriously, what the fuck?

Man that went Dark really damn fast.

I think they have gone to far with Joffery now. Before he was that annoying little shit that you hated and was evil but man there is evil and there is evil. Joffery clearly the latter now. Threatining Sansa is one thing but going all sado masochistic on the whores yea that was a little revolting honestly. Sure be a little devil brat prince but man that just really turned me off to the character as a whole. I thought i'd be a little happy manical laugh when he dies don't know if he dose but dude is super evil has to get his bad karma eventually. O he just had the one girl hit the other girl I thought something totally different was about to occur all things still really bad.

This isn't part of the topic but HOLY CRAP DEMON SPAWN!!!! I knew fire lady was bad news and now that's proof.

First of all, the stuff you mentioned aren't really spoilers but you might want to spoiler tag stuff like that to be safe for people who like talking about the show but are trying to catch up (maybe no one cares though).

Back on topic though, those little fucked up moments are what make the show so interesting. There's not really a right and wrong because the actions of characters are dictated by their families and where they grew up. It's kind of an oxymoron, but I really like how the show depicts a realistic-fantasy world where there are still really awful people.

@MrMazz: When the credits rolled on the episode this was my reaction:

".........................what?"

I love how the show is pretty much a medieval/extremely low fantasy almost political drama with gore and nudity with rare instances of crazy shit like HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT THE FUCK DID SHE JUST GIVE BIRTH TO?

I completey agree. It's important to note that the scene with the prostitutes was invented for the show. I can't fathom why, other than they got to throw in some tits and vag which they can't seem to stop doing, and ruin a character all at once!

For me, it crossed the line between horrible (yet understandable) human behavior, and serial killer behavior. Seemed like something John Doe from Se7en would have done, not Joffery who is a cruel, vengeful kid, but absolutely not a psychopath.

There was more to that Joffery scene though. He obviously knew it was all a ploy by Tyrion to placate him after showing him up in front of everyone. Yes, it was creepy and sadistic, but the main point of the scene was him telling the whores to go straight to Tyrion after they were done. It was a show of power and a direct "fuck you" to Tyrion for trying to challenge it. He's not as bright as his mother or Tyrion, but he definitely knows how to play the Game.

You are stuck with him until at least the end of next season - if they split the books then part way through season 4.

also

He goes out relatively easy - chokes to death/is poisoned.

I think he is a good character though - even more depraved and smug than he is portrayed in the books.

I really enjoyed this episode. I thought the last two were a bit weak. Of course, sometimes you have to devote a couple of episodes to strict plot movement.

Actually he is a sadistic bastard.

Sure skeleton, and very valid point AlKusanagi. Although, maybe he gets worse further than where I am in the books, but for now he's nowhere near that kind of intelligent schemingly evil. What scares me about Joff in the series is that hes a very believable character. I see little violent kids everyday in the city who, if given ultimate power with no reproach, might act similarly. That's his tragedy. He's not a monster. He's just a kid prone to bad things, yes, but made infinitely worse because his bad qualities are supported by the confusing praise of an entire city.

I think it's a disservice to his character then, taking him from someone who we loathe but can find humanity in, to some cartoonishly cruel monster mastermind. That last episode crossed that boundary, and I lost all interest in him.

@gangly: He's also much younger in the books and we never get any chapters from his POV if I can remember correctly, so we can't be sure how clever he is.

@AlKusanagi: Yeah, I guess I just have to concede that this season of Game of Thrones is less "adaptation" and more "interpretation".

Post by Skywarpgold (240 posts) See mini bio

@gangly: I think that's something all us book readers are going to have to come to terms with. Especially with brand new characters being introduced left and right. Case and point: Talisa from Volantis?!

@Skywarpgold: Pretty sure that's gonna be the Jeyne of Westerling substitute (A Storm of Swords spoilers), I heard Rob's whole getting married on the sly thing was gonna be quite divergent in the TV Show.

@Dylabaloo: Yeah, that's what I figured. Especially since they haven't even introduced the Tully's yet, no reason to pull in extra Lannisters I guess.
