EW.com got a scoop today from the show-runners (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss) about what new characters will be in season three, and it's a pretty hefty list! I'll come back and update this post like I did for the season two casting news, when things start to get announced. For now, here's that list:

• Mance Rayder: We’ve heard about him all season. A former member of the Night’s Watch who became the "King Beyond the Wall," the leader of the Wildlings.

• Daario Naharis: A confident and seductive warrior.

• Jojen Reed; Meera Reed: A teenage brother and sister duo with special insights.

• Edmure Tully: A brash young member of the Tully family.

• Ser Brynden Tully (The Blackfish): Catelyn Stark’s uncle.

• Lady Selyse Florent: Stannis Baratheon’s wife.

• Shireen: Stannis’ daughter.

• Olenna Redwyne (The Queen of Thorns): Margaery Tyrell’s sharp-witted grandmother.

• Beric Dondarrion: A skilled knight who is the leader of the outlaw group Brotherhood Without Banners.

• Thoros of Myr: A red priest who follows the same religion as Melisandre.

• Tormund Giantsbane: A Wildling raider.

Two things immediately pop out for me from that list. First, are they going to recast Beric? They already had David Scott in Season 1, and he seemed pretty good, but he was only in it for five seconds, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did. I just hope they get a better replacement than the guy they got to replace the Mountain this season...ugh. The other thing is that it looks like Stannis's daughter is in after all! After Melisandre told Stannis "your wife has [only given you] stillborns and death," in episode two this season, I assumed that meant he had no children at all, but I guess it just means nobody wants to talk about daughters? Which is a rather dark road to follow, although it does fit in with Sansa's whining from season one about how she was afraid she would only give Joffrey daughters...

Anywho, hoorah for the Tullys!

I hope "Arstan Whitebeard" is around. *wink*

@Skywarpgold: Thank you for sharing this! I really don't know how they're going to fit the Tully's in there, I guess they just won't be going to Riverrun? i'm glad to see all the missing links from this season here! I have high hopes for Mance Rayder, but I have faith in their casting.

Huh, just noticed the Queen of Thorns. I always imagined her being played by Maggie Smith, the woman who played Professor Minerva McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies, while I read the books. I can only recall two key moments where she would appear and come off as a dangerous and compelling character. Obviously, I don't want to get into details, but I do want to mention that Sansa does kinda ruin a moment of hers by confiding in Shae about how shitty Joffrey is.

The casting news is gearing up! It even caught me by surprise, as the Clive Russell reveal was made last week. They've actually already started filming, so it should come rushing in soon. There are more rumors (even this Russell addition is technically unofficial), but I'll stick to more accurate reports.

I wonder if they're going to go into the whole 'Unsullied' material in Dany's storyline. That stuff would be pretty time-consuming and expensive.

Internet sleuthing is the best sometimes! While Rheon is only listed as "Boy" on his CV, based on who he's hanging out with in that Facebook pic, there's definitely a high possibility that he just might be the Bastard of Bolton, Ramsay Snow!
