so did I understand it correctly, did the old woman healer / witch actually poison khal drogo in order to get back to him for the years of pillaging, raiding and killing?

he appears to be a battle-proven and tough warrior who probably has sustained lots of wounds over the years, it seems unlikely for that little "scratch" to kill him.

Pretty much. the "medicine" didn't help the wound but made it fester faster. I think Drogo listened to Danerys because of his love for her even though he probably knew he could man it out

I heard that in the book he decided that he wouldn't bother taking her medicine because he was manly. So as soon as the witch and Daenerys left him alone he was like "fuck that shit"

@Christina: That's true, but the show has made several subtle changes in other areas, so I think they indeed are implying that she poisoned him in the show.

@skywarpgold: Ah I guess that is true. Maybe I should stop comparing it to the book, which I haven't even read! Haha

@Christina: I might have read it wrong, but in the book i got the idea that he was still poisoned. Even though Drogo did refuse to take the medicine afterward she made him a bandage. Her telling Dany that there was no reason she would help him secured my belief he was poisoned by her.

@FizzleNizzleBear: Hmm, good point. It could be they're just making things that were just subtle in the books more obvious for the show. Like Renly and Loras being gay. I totally did not pick up on that at all reading the books, but knowing it now and re-reading certain passages, I can tell it was right there in front of my face the whole time...

In the book the plaster cast itched so he took it off and then had the eunuch healers apply a wet paste to it. That's when it festered. At the end before Dany burns her she says she let him die but not that she killed him.

The impression I got from the book was she to tried to heal him, but he tore off the bandage she'd made him and died. The cut I had imagined from the book was much bigger. And when he did tear off the bandage the witch was like, well fuck that dude. From the show it was like she just wanted to fuck them over the whole time.
@Skywarpgold:  And yea man how could you not know Renly was gay. In a Clash of Kings is when I found out when Stannis describes him as a prancing boy and he pays more attention to Loras at feasts more than his does his wife.

@stevemanu: lol, yeah, I have no idea. Didn't notice until some mention of it in book 3...Maybe I was reading that part late night?
