I'm always down for promos that give you more of an idea of what a thing is about than just showing you. That said, I have no idea what this promo means beyond GoT is only 93 days away! "Rains of Castamere" by The National continues to be an ominous little tune.

Game of Thrones dosen't take a sudden Black Tower like turn dose it?

@VioletEyedDragon: I've only seen the first season, but it's interesting. The show is certainly low budgeted and it shows when you see all the armors and the locations they shoot. I would say they their budget is at least as great as Battlestar Galactica.

The stories are also pretty entertaining. You would like this show if you like power struggles and conspiracies. Although, this might all change in the second season. They also aren't afraid to kill of main characters.

Games of Thrones is very different from Lord of the Rings. I haven't seen Conan so I can't say. However, Game of Thrones is very violent and they aren't afraid to show nudity. In a way, Game of Thrones aims to be more realistic in a fantasy setting. For example, their there are brothels and slums and their kings visit these slums often. You might hate this series if you don't like graphic violence and gratuitous nudity (there is enough to warrant an NC-17 rating).

@VioletEyedDragon: @Acura_Max: Season 2 gets better and knowing the sometimes complex story line and family interrelations make what happen more interesting. The first season sometimes feels like a soap opera more than a fantasy story but it's well worth a shot.

@Acura_Max: NC-17?? wow, I had no idea it was that intense.

@VioletEyedDragon: Whoops, I made a typo. I said that Game of Thrones was low budgeted and that is not true at all. Game of Thrones has a huge budget, the kind the gets you good cgi.

okay, that makes me more likely to see it. It isn't like i don't like low-budget things, it just seemed the concept couldn't be executed without a lot of money. TV always looks a little faker than movies, and TV programs with a big scope often end up unsatisfying because they just can't offer the scale that their cinematic counterparts can. I heard that Season 1 builds up to a big battle, but then doesn't show it. Is the editing of that out particularly jarring, or is it concealed by great pacing and story?

@VioletEyedDragon: It's been a while since I have seen season 1, but the first season does skip one battle. However, the big battle that you're talking about does not happen until the second season. They use it as sort of a cliff hanger. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to see the second season so would know more about this than me.

@Acura_Max: do you know how many seasons they plan on having? if they haven't said, could you estimate?

@VioletEyedDragon: I haven't read any of the books so I can't saw how much each season covers. I've have heard that season 1 covers book one exactly and I've also heard that book 3 might require 2 seasons. Considering that there are 7 books in total (with more possibly coming), I estimate that there is going to be at least 7 seasons with a possibility of 8 seasons. Although there could be more.

As of the first season, the most jarring thing I found while watching the series was figuring out the names of each character and their relationship to other characters (ex. family ties). This is due to the fact the game has a pretty big cast (at least 20+ characters and about 4 families).

@VioletEyedDragon: I have no clue, I wanna say they just came out with the final book? So about 5? I'm sure it also depends on how much money it continues to make. But it seems to me each season is a book in the series.
