So last week when the news broke that G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation was being pushed back 9 months we didn't all seem to buy the idea of suddenly throwing 3D on to the feature. Deadline is reporting that the movie wasn't testing well, something that initially jumped to mind. The reason it isn't testing well? Audiences were apparently bummed out that Duke, played by Channing Tatum dies in the begging and that relationship between Duke and Roadblock, played by The Rock, isn't given enough time to develop before Duke eats it and Roadblock and the surviving Joes retaliate against COBRA.
Now the idea that Duke bites the dust isn't new, look at the promo material where is Channing Tatum? This might of seemed like a good idea at the time but Tatum has broken out a bit with The Vow and 21 Jump Street preforming pretty well. Tatum is still cheap to use who could only get bigger. It would be a smart move by Paramount to lock him into a multi film deal for the cheap and ride the wave.
G.I. Joe is doing reshoots that The Rock claims on Twitter to be
@TheRock It will be. Designing new scenes to enhance 3D. RT: @JimmyinGA: Was looking forward to GI Joe next month. Hope the 3D is worth the wait.
It wouldn't be a stretch that they are doing what The Rock says and adding more scenes for Duke
