Glee Forum

I don't usually watch Glee, but I just saw this article and figured it was worth sharing. Apparently, the show asked Kings of Leon to use their music in the show. They turned them down. This prompted show creator Ryan Murphy to go off on a profanity filled rant about the band, calling them "self-centered assholes" and "uneducated and quite stupid."
 
That seems a little harsh over a simple matter. I don't know if this is a case of a little bit of fame going to someone's head, or if there are underlying issues I'm not aware of. Or maybe, he's always been a colossal asshole himself. Whatever the reason, this seems like a relatively minor issue to get so angry about.

That dude seems like huge asshole and I doubt Kings of Leon would ever feel that they where "selling out"  since dont they have a really small fanbase in America compared to how big they are here in Ireland and the in the UK.

Glee takes well regarded songs and makes shitty car commercial style covers of them. Anyone with respect for their music ought to turn it down, knowing what Glee does to that shit.

I FUCKING HATE GLEE SO MUCH IT HURTS. This doesn't help matters much either.
 
 
Man, I fuggin HATE primetime television so much.

Good for the Kings of Leon. I don't particularly like their music, but I hate Glee a whole lot more^^

I like Glee enough, but I know they would do the worst cover. So thank god.

Since when did Glee get such an ego about itself? 
I suppose some awards will do that. 
The show just takes music and whitewashes it into something more consumable (as if music isnt already that). 
So Kings of Leon have a right to say no.

I think Ryan Murphy was very wrong to say the things he said, but the Kings of Leon drummer guy was way more out of order with his homophobic reply. It's actually tainted the way I listen to Kings of Leon :/ 

This guy sounds like a real prick. He calls Slash washed-up just cause he doesn't give him the rights to his songs?? He sounds like one of those people who immediately disregards anyone who doesn't wholeheartedly agree with him. I guess you'll get a big ego having a show on Fox that actually lasts.

Considering the fact that the whole show is riding the success of artists who are actually talented I don't think anyone on that show has any right to complain about the people from whom they are copying their music on a weekly basis.

I read the topic of this thread and was hoping the director left because he felt the show had deviated from his vision and lost all quality. Hearing he left because of a diologue  with The Kings of Leon, of all bands, sort of disappoints me.
