 Well, this looks fun.
 Well, this looks fun.
While there was once a time I could self-identify as someone who enjoyed Glee on a casual level, the term "gleek" is not something I would ever apply to my particular brand of fandom. In fact, that term still makes my eyes roll back into my skull and every blood vessel in my body begin reverberating violently, like metal wire jerked tight too quickly.

So, perhaps I am not the target audience for this newly proposed 3D film starring the 14 original cast members who could be bothered to star in the Glee Live! In Concert! musical--sorry, no Jane Lynch. Yes, this is not a big, new production, but rather a concert movie based around the original theatrical performances. It's sort of like those Fathom Events things you always see ads for before movies, which present Broadway shows, the Metropolitan Opera, and random ass Japanese movies for limited engagements to audiences presumably interested in these sorts of things. Except in this case, Fox is putting this out themselves, and the engagement will be for a full two weeks starting August 12th.

Considering Glee continues to be a raging, pitiless pop-culture beast hellbent on subsuming any and all tangentially relatable music and belittling any musician who would dare shun the unstoppable behemoth's lord and master, Ryan Murphy, I think it's safe to assume this movie will probably be successful.

I love Glee (:
I think it's a pretty unique show, deals with strong issues in a humorous yet real way and the music is a secondary part of the show, but just adds something different.

It is literally one of the best parts of my week, Whenever I'm down it makes me happy.

(:  Yes, Haters gonna hate!

I like gleek better as a reference to projectile saliva.

The reason why Glee has been successful is it has capitalized on something other similar programs, High School Musical and say Degrassi (I'm Canadian so I always see that one), had done and made it better. High School musical may have been popular but they had so much more to prove due to them having to make original songs. Glee is essentially a cover show, when people talk about it they say " Oh is Lady Gaga night" etc so it has that going for it. And it also has the high school drama aspect lots of dedicated teen shows have and succeeds at that by patting out their story through more episodes, due to the musical breaks. Creating a movie is stupid to me and may make money but if they keep on making movies I can see people getting tired of the series real fast. They should just stick to TV, replace the cast when they get too old and repeat the cycle all over again. This is coming from someone who has never seen an episode but realizes it is successful.

wait, glee? you mean High School Stereotypes Show? a swat team needs to infiltrate the Glee set and save Jane Lynch so she can go and be in comedy things that are actually good

From all their songs there is only one that is superior to the original and I think they have more than 100 songs by now. How can they suck so much?

I, for one, welcome our new auto-tuned overlords.
I like Glee. It's pretty bad in many ways, but I still enjoy watching it. I try to not think too much about it and just enjoy it while I can. I'd feel better about the whole thing if there weren't so many irksomely gleeful fans who think Glee is the best thing ever. Then again, the same applies to most things that are popular. I'm not too hip to stick with things I like even after the rabid fans bare their fangs .
Though I do have to mention I watched Glee before "Gleek" was a thing. And I read Harry Potter before Pottermania. And I was into Tolkien way before Peter Jackson made his movie trilogy.

The supporting cast of Glee are the only thing that makes it remotely tolerable, the main people are - on the whole - terrible actors with decent singing voices.

But Sue, Brittany, Santana, etc make it a little watchable due to some legitimately funny dialogue.

Glee is still a musical right? And it's a musical not named Flight of the Conchords?

I remain uninterested.

For some reason this development made me immediately think of the Power Rangers movie.  I'll hold out for Glee Turbo.

I wouldn't bother with this movie in the first place -- but no Heather Morris? It might as well not even exist then. She's WAY too hot to be excluded from any show ever.

I love Glee and am super excited for this mainly because unlike last time the tour isn't going all across the country, only the major cities. (WITH 5 STOPS IN CALIFORNIA! WHY?!!?!?) Anyway, I'm glad I'll be able to see it even if it is only through a movie screen.
