Remy had initially told Patrick he didn't know Ray, when Patrick first met Remy. After Nick's funeral, Patrick speaks to a police officer, who tells him that Remy had been asking about the drug lord's stolen money before the drug lord knew it was missing. Patrick interrogates Beatrice's husband Lionel (Titus Welliver) in a bar and comes to the conclusion that Lionel and Remy had conspired to stage a fake kidnapping so they could take the drug money for themselves and to save Amanda from Helene's drug addeled parenting. Remy busts into the bar, wearing a mask and holding a shotgun, and stages a robbery.

While the police question Patrick about Remy's death, Patrick discovers that the department had never received a phone transcript like the one that Doyle had shown him that arranged the aumbush/exchange.
