After the unfunny disaster that was Funny People, Adam Sandler kind of needed to remind audiences why they liked him. And why not bring a few friends with him? You see, this movie is mostly an excuse for 5 friends to hang out in a nice setting, and just have a good time together. An extended vacation with the purpose of making a movie. Doesn't sound like a bad deal for them.
If you're a fan of these guys, and their antics, you'll like this movie, at least enough for a rental. Adam Sandler does what Sandler of the 00s does in terms of comedy. Kevin James is the butt of fat jokes and stuff like that. David Spade is weird. Rob Schneider even more so. And Chris Rock is there, just being black. Basically, what you know and love them for. If you're satisfied with that, then you'll find enjoyment out of this movie. Granted, you'll mostly hate everything not involving comedy from the 5, like the jokes about the kids or the wives, or even the attempts at character building, or emotional moments, or life lessons, or something like that.
Basically, I suspect it was a blast for everybody involved in this film to make it. For the viewer, it won't be a blast, but depending on your taste, you may just laugh enough to get you by.
