Some singularly cool vampires and a great concept can't quite rescue this underwhelming horror flick.

I really enjoyed this movie when it came out.

Fact: The only good vampire is a dead vampire!

Well, more dead than undead, that is...

I remember liking it more the first time I saw it. The second time I realized that it was kind of underwhelming in a lot of ways. It's weird. I suppose that, for a commercial film, it's better to come on strong in the first viewing than be built to last.

I've actually enjoyed this movie more each time I've seen it. Strange!

Almost exactly what I thought too. I remember my friend hating it while I loved it... not so much now.

Also enjoying the wealth of videos lately!

It was based on a comic book/graphic novel, wasn't it? Anyone know how faithful an adaptation it was? Some of the poorer decisions, like the climax, may be the fault of the source material.

Once again a lovely edit by Joey and Rorie you did a good job too.

I read the comic a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure it was very different. The writer was tapped to produce and write the movie, but he changed it quite a bit (aside from a few direct references to certain panels and scenes). It has been too long for me to remember any details, but I don't recall liking the story from the graphic novel much.

As for the movie itself, it greatly benefits from its R rating for sure, I think they went for trying to split the story too much between the vampires and the humans, which weakened the entire thing overall.

I hated this movie so much the only actor I can remember was Josh Hartnett but I remember being really annoyed by his wife in the film, totally forgot it was Melissa George, I can't stand her in anything.

All I know is I enjoyed this movie quite a bit and in fact think it was well done. Maybe it isn't anything "fantastic" or the like but definitely a decent vampire movie with a great concept.

...Nah, it was all good.

But I'm one of those guys who dislikes Anne Rice vampires.

I was expecting trash but was pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty decent "hung over" movie when you need to boot down.

You have to find the long road, and the record shop at the end!

I have only seen the film once but remember thinking highly of it, it seems the consensus is that it does not hold up to repeat viewings so I will give it a few more years before watching it again.

kennyshaton Nov. 16, 2011 at 1:01 p.m.

I also enjoyed this the first time (and only time) I watched it. I've really no interest in seeing it again. It did turn me onto the comic it is based on. I read the first two trades of the book and enjoyed them, so there's that.

Ahhhhh, those Half Good screen captures . . . .

Saw this in theatres and that's it, it struck me as very loud, which is about the best thing I can say about it. It did get me to notice and be excited for Danny Huston, but then Wolverine came out, so . . . . yeah . . . .

bunkerbuster05on Nov. 16, 2011 at 1:03 p.m.

I like it a bit more than half good, but can't wholeheartedly recommend it. The overhead shot of the town getting decimated is pretty great, and the vampire clan is terrifying. Danny Huston is the boss in this movie.

I can say that this movie/comic has my favorite kind of vampires. The scarier and more blood thirsty, the better.

You guys always choose the perfect for the "Half-Good" still shot.

These are always awesome. Never seen the movie though.
