I like this film more than i should
I am very much looking forward to this.
I wonder if this will be a truly divisive feature. The movie was, ok, only gets singled out in comparison to how great the other films are.
I honestly though the film was fine on the whole. The biggest complaint I heard from people was "Aliens? Ugh, that doesn't belong in an Indiana Jones film, it's not realistic!" Which, listen, if you felt that was out of place, that's your prerogative, but the first movie features a magic God-box that melts Nazis faces off. Just sayin'
My big issue with the film was the whole 'Aliens' thing. Up until that point the film was a typically fun Indiana Jones romp though still not as good as the others. I don't dislike the aliens thing because it's not realistic (I have a Masters of History and know that Indiana Jones is not representative of true history or archaeology), but because it is unnecessary. The whole plot could have easily been explained with 'this is an ancient Mayan curse/hex'. Problem solved. Everyone loves the movie. Yay!
I agree that this film is half-good.
The fridge scene was where I started disliking the film too.
Is it me or is there only 2 points for good and 3 points for bad?
More like one third-good! AMIRITE?
I have to disagree, The Crystal Skull is entirely unwatchable.
I thought the chase scene through the streets and the university campus was the most exciting because it lacked the overbearing CGI and it delivered a piece of excitement that really echoed the stunts and action scenes from the original three.
Also, if you are a fan of Scrubs, the bit part of the Janitor near the beginning of the film was just so bloody weird.
My biggest problem was that it felt like Indy did nothing the entire movie. Particularly in Raiders and Last Crusade, Indy's actions are crucial to moving the plot forward and in getting closer to the mcguffin. In KOTCS, Indy either stands around, or follows someone else, or is forcibly dragged from one place to another. If he wasn't involved, the entire plot wouldn't have changed. It's disappointing how passive they made him, which only made him feel old.
I wouldn't call Crystal Skull half-good. I would call it a movie, nothing more, nothing less.
