"Let them eat only half a cake!" is how it really went down.

I kinda liked the movie, but more for the soundtrack and the attempt they made, but I agree half good.

Reminds me of Knights Tale in a weird way.

My girlfriend loves this movie because of the music and the visuals. She doesn't much care for the plot or the actors though and now I can see why.

I thought it set a great mood and was just a visually appealing film.  Sure, there were gaping plot caverns but whatever.  This was a Sofia-ass Sofia-flick.

If you know British rock and psychedelic rock from the 70's, and like Steve Coogan you should check out a comedy called, " Saxondale" you will know if you'll like it in the first 2 episodes...Its on Netflix's streaming.

I will have to watch this movie thanks Alex, or maybe half-thanks? :-/

Was recently reading up about this (like literally about two days ago) after watching Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides. Another really flat endeavor, but one that also didn't have any of the costumes to help it stick out; and Kirsten Dunst, who I think plays the main character? It was pretty tough to decipher just whom we were meant to be following exactly since it always appeared like all of the cast acted as supporting roles to a non-existent lead; and Kirsten at least was pretty bleh overall.
Innn any case.. I'm definitely one so far who's not all that impressed with Sofia's work, though I plan to at least give Lost in Translation a watch soon since that's meant to be levels higher than her other projects. Plus Bill Murray.. which already has it as a more appealing film than everything else she's got to show.

Alex Navarro's command of the French language blows my mind.

The ending to that video was priceless. Great work, Alex.

You know I've agreed with most half goods...but yeah I draw the line here, this movie was awful. Answering the question "What would the French Royalty look like if they were all valley girls?" does not, a good movie make.

Haha nice le zing. I really like the half-good series. It's just one of the reasons why Screened is my favorite of the Whiskey bunch!

My girlfriend's seen Marie Antoinette. I think she feels about the same. It's a movie... a weird one.

Weird audio mixing this episode.  The Makerbot song was distracting.

I LOVE YOU ALEX.

Heh.  Lezzing.

Anyway, I saw this movie in France in French, so maybe it was even worse than I thought.

I can't believe it took 17 comments before someone got to this.

Never seen it. Nice job, seems like Barry Lyndon and a VH1 Behind the music special.

I love Lost In Translation (see avatar pic), but all of Coppolas other works (besides Somewhere which I havent seen) I found really boring and uninteresting.  I was excited for this because of the New Wave meets period piece idea, but like Alex brilliantly put it only works well a few times.  By 3/4 of the way to the movie I wanted to leave out of boredom, but I stuck with it to the end.

That being said, I do listen to the soundtrack very often.  She has a knack for picking some good music to go along to her movies.    I still like Coppola's style and will probably see any future films she makes.
