I've been meaning to watch The Cell for a while now. All I now is that Venetian Snares sampled one of the water box scenes in Pressure Torture.

The best scene in the Cell is the one with the horse. heh No surprise you showed it so early.

Maybe Lopez was becoming too much of a star at this point, and once she got her money she no longer cared about the acting.

Definitely going to watch this now. too funny showing that girl in the glass cell

Tarsem Singh has a very interesting visual style, but unfortunately The Cell didn't have that great of a script to back it up.  The Fall is much better in this regard. It is still as visually interesting as The Cell, but the performances and story are much, MUCH better.

I just remember the Cell as being all kinds of fucked up.

I just checked out Ebert´s review and was surprised that he gave it four stars....I am now definitely eager to check it out, mainly for the imagery. The Fall was quite enjoyable though the visuals certainly outweighed the story and characters.

Tried watching this a last year with my lady friend but she walked off after the first half hour & nothing I can say about the film's positive merits will do anything to get her to give it another shot.

The Cell is all kinds of flash, but very little bang, and definitely deserves "half-good" status.

Also, JLo inadvertently shows you what you should be doing while watching this.

I'm a pretty big fan of The Cell, but it is most definitely a half-good film.
Now The Fall. There's a fully-good film...and one of my absolute favourites.

Man, watching this feature made me remember how much amazing imagery there is in this film. Need to watch it again. Wonder if it's out on Blu-Ray...
Also I kind of disagree with the idea that the split personality is a bad aspect. I agree that her quest to rescue the little boy side of his personality is distracting, but I think exploring the reasons why he became such a horrific monster is interesting and perhaps gives some variety to the nightmare.

i wonder if the game " Heavy Rain" took something from this movie with the whole serial killer turning women into creepy dolls
Danyon March 25, 2011 at 9:57 a.m.
I was around 9 when that film started showing up on HBO and HOLY SHIT was I scared of it, the most visually messed up movie ever....gah
Aetheldodon March 25, 2011 at 10:07 a.m.
I agree with all your points Rorie .... damn this flick would been a lot better without J-Lo , also the Vrigin Mary imagery was too much , way silly and stupid. My favorite scene is when the killer is in his throne and walks down pulling the purple curtains .... IDK why but it mesmerizes me.
Tartaruson March 25, 2011 at 10:32 a.m.
Yep the way the film sort of does not really care that much about the last victim was strange and all the scenes in the minds are very good everything outside is average and sort of boring.
