Ok, Happy Endings is pretty great

I thought it was just another comedy show with overly attractive people like New Girl or 2 Broke Girls with mediocre writing.

NOPE!

I heard it around people recommending the best comedy on TV this year, Parks and Rec, It's Always Sunny and this show kept on coming up (no one brought up Community so I guess that show really has waned).

Watch it, you won't be disappointed. Awful name though.

Wrong!

But yeah, I was surprised to discover that Happy Endings is actually good. I need to start watching it now.

That chick from 24 (Elisha Cuthbert) is actually not annoying in this, kind of cute (no not in that Zooey way...*shivers*).

Also, Human Giant have guest-starred in it.

Paul Scheer as Mini Kimono guy

Rob Huebel as Dave's english teacher

And Schmidt!

Schmidt (only good thing of "New Girls") as Max&squot;s gay date!

Agreed - quality show. I too thought that it was gonna be just a generic comedy show, but it seems like it's trying to do something a bit more interesting than simply being a clone of other shows of a similar genre. The really strong cast probably makes up a good deal of the appeal, though the writing is also really great. Incidentally, the Russo brothers (of Community fame) have also written for Happy Endings.

I watch it but I feel that it's only slightly better than most of the other "bad" comedies. Much of the cast comes off as unlikable to me but it can be really funny at times with a good example being when in a recent episode, Elisha Cuthbert's character had to do good on every "coupon" that she gave out as a gift and one involved her cooking a nice dinner then providing music as a DJ as the person ate.

Ever since I randomly caught the premiere episode one night last fall I've been in love with this show. The cast is hilarious and the writing is witty and fast paced in the best way possible. Can't recommend it enough.

I've heard nothing but good things about the show, but the whole generic sitcom friends thing kinda turned me off from it. If it's as good as you guys say, I guess my need to fill my Community-shaped void could be satisfied by this.

They're pretty clever with shitting on Elisha Cuthbert on every chance since she's the big star in the show. Unlike New Girl, where all the attention is put on the big star, Cuthbert is basically the dumb girl, and never gets anything done right, even dates!

Agreed, but I think they've handled it pretty well. It would've been easy to make her into a run-of-the-mill ditsy blonde, but she's more goofy than straight-up idiotic, making her more endearing in the process.

It's middling, I don't mind it but it's nowhere near as strong as the current standard bearers.

Happy endings ARE pretty great aren't they? I mean, you go in for a little massage and walk out with a spring in your ste- Oh wait, we're talking about a TV show now? Wow. I...I totally misread that. Move along, nothing to see here.

I wasn't as surprised to find out it was great, but it is great.
