That might be the most midnight screenings I've ever seen for one movie, even a Twilight. Who the fuck wants to be in a movie theater at 3 in the morning?

I would!

They did that back with Dark Knight and Watchmen at my local IMAX theater. I went to a PACKED midnight showing, and when we got out there was a huge line for the 3/4 AM showings. Not surprising this would pull a similar crowd.

Money, money money!

Dude....

On a more important note, I saw Born to be Wild 3D at the same IMAX last week (yes, it took that long to get to the UK). That shit rocked. And aside from a few strange out of focus pop-out parts, it was the best use of 3D I've ever seen. The helicopter shot passing the mountain actually managed to tickle my vertigo for a second or two.

It's probably a smart idea to do that. It's not like they're going to be using the screens for anything else at 3:30 AM. I however, will be sound asleep long before then.

If they are showing something at midnight then I guess they may as well use their other screens if the demand is there. I've got my tickets booked for day one (not midnight though, I don't want to watch a film when I should be sleeping). I CANNOT WAIT. It's gonna be so damn good.

Just realized this is the last Harry Potter movie... I'll prbably wait a day or two. At 3am I'm too busy sleeping..

I kind of feel sorry for the people that have to work that shift...

I just booked my midnight tickets. At our cinema you get a free showing of part 1 at 8.45. He doesn't want to go though, so I have to miss out on that bit =( Bastard.

I went to a opening night midnight IMAX showing for the 4th or 5th movie at the Metreon. What a shitty experience. There was one girl from some Harry Potter fan club that was first in line. She didn't seem to understand that it wasn't cool for her to rope off 40 prime location seats (not exaggerating) for the rest of the fan club who weren't coming until 5 minutes before showtime. There was apparently also a huge group of bears (the San Francisco kind, not the Jellystone Park kind) there. I'm not sure if they were some sort of very niche fan club or a group that just happened to like the movies. It was annoying that they were blocking off a big section, but at least it was 10 guys reserving 20 seats instead of being like that one girl. There were lots of teens acting like douchebags, parents dragging along cranky kids who missed their bedtimes by a few hours, and the 3D scenes were awful.

I'm normally an easy going guy, but that was too much for me. After that I stopped going to big release movies on opening weekend. Now I tend to go to evening showings in the middle of the weeks. It's a much better experience.

I need to decide whether I should marathon the entire series before this comes out, just watch the last one by itself, or just skip the whole thing all together...probably one of the latter two, because marathoning 7 movies doesn't sound so appealing.

All the midnight showings are selling out around me also. However, I need to decide to 3D or not to 3D before I get my ticket. Any input would be nice. On one hand I don't want it to be super dark. On the other hand I think their spells and magic doing could look cool in 3D.

I'd watch a movie at a midnight showing.

The films are quite dark visually when you're watching them normally, so I couldn't imagine adding an extra layer of darkness over that being beneficial. I'm personally seeing it in 2D, but that's because I really don't like 3D - besides, I've seen the other seven in 2D and they all looked wonderful then.

I think I went to a midnight showing once in my life (not counting a whole mess of performances of The Rocky Horror Picture Show which isn't quite the same thing).  I find that I can wait until the following day to see a movie.  I'll take sleep.  What gets me is that in all likelihood, whoever sees this movie at midnight is a big enough Potter fan to have read the books and knows how the story ends anyway, so what's the rush?

I never go to midnight screenings.  I doubt I'll go to this though I intend to see it sometime next week.

Apparently 9 of my friends and I are going to see this film on the opening day. I guess I am part of the problem.
