That thought Hellboy 2 was bad? So many people talk about like it was some great movie but I just can't see it. I just got done re-watching it to give it another chance and I still really don't like it.The script is so awful and some lines just don't even make sense. There are some many things going on that never really developed, like Abe just falls in love with the princess at the drop of a hat. Some scenes seem completely unnecessary and just exist to fulfill del Toro's creature design fantasies. That being said, the creature design is really cool for the most part even if it does seem out of place and some of the action was cool. Still I feel like the first Hellboy was a better film (actually watching it now) and a bit more grounded in reality. Some of the stuff in Hellboy 2 seemed really out of character with the first film and just plain cheesy. Oh and that opening scene with young Hellboy and the animation was awful.

I didn't think it was awful, but I don't love it either. The costume design was incredible, but the plot and writing was pretty so-so.

I liked the first Hellboy a lot more, but I still thought Hellboy 2 was pretty good. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I remember thinking that the dialogue and the love-interest and Abe and Hellboy getting drunk weren't handled particularly well.

Well good, I was starting to think I was the only one. I wouldn't say I hate it either but I really liked the first one so the second being mediocre stings more. lol I wonder if three will be any good. del Toro is apparently not returning, which could be good or bad at this point.

We really do need a moratorium on people naming topics "Am I the only one"

Golden Army had a lot of grand set pieces and incredible costume design/sets, but the writing/plot just couldn't carry it for some reason. On paper it seemed like a cool thing, but I think it swung too far into grand theatrics and strayed from the dark nature of the first film.

I don't think either movie are bad, nor are they fantastic, but as far as comic book adaptations they're both solid.

Yes, we do because unless the question is immediately followed by "who stuffs peanut butter coated cats up their buttocks for fun and profit" then chances are you are no where near the only one.  It's a presumptuous way of calling attention to your own alleged uniqueness.

As for the movie, I really liked the first one, and I enjoyed the second but not quite as much.  I appreciated that there were more gray areas to contemplate than in the original, but the resolutions weren't as satisfying.  It was far from "bad" though in my opinion especially when you compare it to similar genre films from that time.

I loved Hellboy 2.

I think it's a crazy fun film, but you absolutely have to meet it half way. There's a point about 1/3 into the movie where there's a plot hole, so huge, so gigantic, so enormous, that the film's existence would be undone if the hole was not ignored.
Besides that, there are some super cheesy one-liners, and that scene with Abe & Hellboy getting drunk, listening to Barry Manilow, is cringe-worthy.

I liked the first one a lot better, Hellboy 2 seemed like it took off in a completely different direction than was intended after the end of the first movie, what with them doing away with the guy that was supposed to end up being Hellboy's friend. It had a very "humans are bad and the monsters are good" vibe going on that I didn't really care for.

I unabashedly loved Hellboy 2 and that's not only because I love BPRD. It starts out slow, but the whole tone of the movie was something that I can really get behind. It felt very Lovecraftian, in a way the first movie did not and no movie really has even though it was light hearted. The world needs more movies like Hellboy 2.

It wasn't the greatest comic book movie, but it was better than the first one by far.

It's been awhile since I've seen the film, but I remember liking it.

I enjoyed it much more than the first. My only problem with the series as a whole is Selma Blair. She's a very boring actress and as great as Ron Perlman is she has no chemistry with him.
