I'm looking forward to the new one!
Still really like the first one. Probably check out the new one when it rolls out on DVD.
Thanks for this. I'll show my girlfriend this week.
I'm actually excited for MI4. MI 1 and 3 are pretty good spy action flicks MI2 is just insane Jon Woo action with "story" thrown in.
Also WTF is with Anthony Hopkins being in MI2?
Now I need to watch all three of these.
The first one is great, the second is rubbish and the third one is also rubbish.
Thank you Rorie, I haven't seen these movies in forever it feels like.
That retrospective reminded me just how mediocre the Mission Impossible movies have been.
I like 1, I love 2 in that "So bad it is good" way but 3 just rubbed me the wrong way.
Oh and to whoever makes MI:5 here is a twist. Actually make Ethan the bad guy.
I actually thought MI: 2 was pretty great!
I have more affection for the TV series as a kid than these movies, don't know why. I'm 24, it was on TV all the time.
i am really looking forward to this.
They recently put out a Blu-ray boxset of these movies which I picked up for like $30 last week. I just recently watched all of them and I had forgotten how kind of silly and implausible these movies are with M:i II being the worst in dumb factor. You'd think that at a certain point, Hunt would just say "Fuck it" and stop trying or the IMF would stop giving him missions because every single time, they go tits up and Ethan might be a traitor.
That said, I still love them, all of them, in fact.
I'm definitely going to go see M:i IV to support Brad Bird's first foray into live action movie directing, if nothing else. From the look of the trailers, though, I fully expect to be entertained.
Also, I get the impression from this video that Rorie isn't a huge fan. Or maybe he was just feeling a little snarky when he recorded this, I don't know.
Cool, loads of stupid, mindless, and completely ridiculous action scenes. I'll go see it for sure...especially, if I have nothing else worth doing.

Same here and I am 25. I think we hit that sweet spot where M.I., Dick Van Dyke, and Get Smart reruns were on all the time. Love those shows.
The sound is a bit out of sync, but maybe that's just mine. Anyway great HWYM!
I'm loving these "Here's What You Missed," you give us a great summary of the events in an easy to follow method so that way we can just go on and enjoy the new one. Just hope SOPA doesn't pass so we can keep enjoying them -_-
I like the first one, I have mixed feelings on the second one, and I love the third one. I'm sure Ghost Protocal will be a blast.
