The Hunger Games return with such a sequel twist that you can't believe writer Suzanne Collins didn't think of film when writing. Catching Fire builds up with all types of subversive messaging which is interesting but also brings into relief the limitations of the genre and film.

In 2024 the Earth's ozone layer has been depleted worldwide, necessitating an artificial energy field to keep out the sun's rays. With it the Shield Corporation controls the lives of everyone on the planet. Connor MacLeod after winning The Prize has now gained mortality and is now a frail older man. After he beheads an immortal who tries to kill him MacLeod finds that he is once again unable to die and sets out to help dismantle the shield and discover the origins of the immortals.
