Starting in 2005, HIMYM tells the story of Ted, a hopeless romantic looking for his soul mate in NYC. With his best friends Lily and Marshall, his "wing man" Barney and one time girlfriend Robin with him, will Ted Mosby find love?
During the episode there is an ongoing countdown to the bad news starting at 50. Number 50 shows up in the first sceene on the doctors desk all the way to 1 that's on the cab from which Lilly steps out of to tell Marshall the bad news. All numbers are shown in numeric form except for the number 5. It's the number of fingers Marshall holds up when Barney is giving him a high-five.

Lily, screams at one of the kids in her kindergarten class. Then, that kid screams at her dad, Arthur's boss boss. Then the whole thing starts all over again, thus completing "The Circle of Screaming."
