Finally, HIMYM sets a goal

I just got around to seeing this week's HIMYM and so far this season it's been seeming a little muddy on where the series was going. And finally, CBS got it's act together and set itself a goal for the show.

In three years (2015) Ted will have met his wife and have a baby.

Does this mean the end of the show? Or will they continue until the second child is born? Or will they go further?

So I don't have to watch any of this show again until then?

Any chance the show actually makes it that long?

Its rating have been consistently high. It was double renewed for a seventh and an eighth, so we get one more year guaranteed. And you should watch the show, as close to right this second as possible. This season has been hasn't been the best though, it's no reason not to watch.

HIMYM is a weird show in that an end is manufactured from the very start of the show. With that, the hype just builds and builds and builds. After all of these years it really will be tricky to pull off a satisfying ending that is appropriately epic for the years it built to. But, the writers have done some pretty fucking amazing things in the past so I'm not too concerned.

Well, we knew that he had to meet the mother of his children sometime pretty soon, as his children are teenagers, and the narration takes place from 2030's viewpoint. That being said, it's great for the show to set a goal. Me and a friend were speculating and determined the show has two seasons left: one more involving Barney and Robin's relationship, with them finally getting married, and then one more after that wherein Ted meets his wife and their relationship is shown. We have also realized his wife is probably Barney's half-sister, who is said to be a college student during the time Ted would be teaching, and also would be at Barney's wedding. Of course, Barney could always end up marrying Quin, but that would still leave the next season to focus on Robin finding happiness (considering how dull Robin's character is, I would not look forward to the next season). It's very neat how things are finally falling into place, but I can't help but think another year of Ted being lonely will be kinda painful.

The twist will be that the entire series is a flash-sideways, and they've all been indoctrinated the whole time. And they're all the figments of an autistic child's imagination. And the child has been dead the whole time.

I've never been a fan of the show, unfortunately.

You know, when you put them all together like that it sounds pretty amazing.

It's all in a snowglobe.

@damnitsted: Will the Season we are in now, end with Barney getting married?

@Watcherg44: Isn't Ted still fixing his house?

@Watcherg44: @TheFaithfullyDeparted: Yeah, his house is kinda still a dump, and it's in the suburbs, far from his friends.

Well, Twin Peaks revealed their McGuffin too early, and this is revealing it overly late. Once someone new discovers the show some day and realized there's like 10 seasons... I can see that being a bit intimidating.

@Red: Yea i know, but any kind of comment, on his house would be worth it!
