Is This The Mother In How I Met Your Mother?

So I was laying in bed watching How I Met Your Mother tonight and it was the episode No Tomorrow where Ted and Barney are out on St. Patricks Day at a club where the mother is. Well I notice one scene that seemed kind of odd where Ted is walking and bumps into this girl and excuses himself. I never would have thought anything of it but there was a lingering shot and this made think something was special about it. They said a long time ago they have known who the mother is for a while. Maybe this is them inputting her subliminally and they will call back to it when they finally introduce her. Here's a screenshot of the girl. I think this could very well be the mother. Maybe I'm looking into it a little too much but it just seemed odd to me. What do you think? I have seen this same theory on YouTube so I know I'm not the only one.

Hmm, it's definitely possible. I still think that they're never going to show the mother. They've been building it up for so long that I think it's better if they just leave her to our imagination.

I've always wondered if the show was really leading up to some big reveal. Considering the success the show has achieved they will probably get the chance to do an episode finale or season finale revealing his wife. My one problem with the show is how all the stories somehow barely have a connection to the mother, sure I get that it's the premise but some exgf he had 10 years before he met the real mother doesn't have that much to do with the meeting.

Let's just hope it doesn't show it a bit earlier than necessary.

Like Twin Peaks revealing who killed Laura. I thought the series ended well, but there were a few episodes after that resolution that were so damn iffy.

By about the end of season 2 I stopped caring about the eventual payoff and kept watching just for Barney Stinson. Neil Patrick Harris is the man.

There's definitely a plan in place, I think I've read interviews from the show creators. It's rumoured the show will end in Season 8, and they've already filmed the parts with Ted's future kids to go along with the reveal. The mystery of finding out who it is is actually one of the reasons why I started watching HIMYM and still do. If you can get around the filler eps, the actual story regarding the different connections to "YM" is pretty damn good for a sitcom.

According to the kids on IMDB, the "bump girl" (girl in the club) is definitely a contender, as is Barney's half-sister Carly. There are a bunch of pre-reqs that the YM has to meet (be Rachel Bilson's character's roommate in college, meet Ted at a wedding, etc) so the writers definitely can't pull something out of their asses. They've been startlingly good at continuity where it counts.

I have faith we won't be disappointed with the final reveal. As already said they've been incredibly good with the continuity and linking the events of the series together. I'm sure they won't fall down at the final hurdle and just have it be a girl Ted meets in a bar one night.

After thinking about it more I am convinced that this is the mother for sure.

-He said she was at that party.

-They showed a montage in a later episode that showed the mother with her face blurred out and the have the same looking body type.

-They did in fact film the ending already with the kids and I think we will see the mother then too. Probably coming in and asking what they are up to or something like that.

-The way the clip in the episode is it seems very significant in the way it is presented. The fact that she has a speaking line and the way the shot lingers means we may see her again. Watching the clip does more for the argument than looking at screens.

If this turns out to be the mother I will have completely bought into the genius of this show as it was so subtle I am surprised I even noticed it.

Wait, doesn't he say later in that episode that he's thankful he didn't run into the mother at that party because he was being such a jerk? If so, then she may not be the mother.

Oh yes that could be true. I will have to go back and watch it again I may have missed that part. But at the same time this is just bumping into someone. He didn't actually sit down and have a conversation with her or anything.

@advent_crash: When you say they've known who the mother is for a while, do you mean they've picked out the actress or have they constructed the character and know exactly how the whole thing plays out?

In relation to the Bump Girl, according to imdb Ted said he didn't meet her that night, but he did technically meet the BG? Or does is that too brief/informal that it doesn't really count as an actual meeting? I'd be surprised if it was her; although it was really short, it didn't seem all that subtle

@skidd: Regarding meeting the bump girl, I took it to mean Ted was glad she didn't meet him while he was drunk and acting like an asshole. But it could definitely be the thing about not even knowing that he "met" the mother, since they didn't really speak.

Even if it is bump girl, it's just cool to see how/if they were "fated" to meet again, especially after the connection between the business class, the yellow umbrella and its owner being the roommate of Rachel Bilson's character.

I bet there are a few other instances of this type of run-in or greeting in other episodes. They probably have groundwork laid all over the place.

They have said they know who the character is I don't know if they have mentioned casting or not. They could totally go back and reshoot if they wanted. It's entirely possible I am looking too much into it but I just wanted to make sure it was on record in case I was right.I think it could totally be this girl but I guess we will know after next year.

I just hate how the show's so indecisive. I mean, I honestly don't care who Ted ends up with. He's passed up on so many good women and there have just been so many red herrings that it doesn't matter anymore. The worst is with cases like Robin, in which we find out she isn't the mother in the first episode, but are then forced to watch Ted whine and mope after her for two seasons. It's frustrating. Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris are great, and HIMYM is probably the best American laugh-track sitcom still running (limited pool), but damns can no longer be given to the show's main plotline.
