(HMMWV or Humvee)

Since the Army awarded AM General the contract to develop several prototype vehicles the Humvee has gone through many changes.

(HMMWV or Humvee) stands for High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. It has been in use by the military since 1985, and it is capable of serving as a cargo hauler, troop carrier, weapons platform, and ambulance, among many other roles. There are several types of modifications, including armored doors with bullet-resistant glass, side and rear armor plates, and a ballistic windshield which offers greater protection from ballistic threats and simple IEDs.
