There are some directors that just make you just trust with your movie budget. Christopher Nolan is on my short list of such directors. Ever since I watched Memento, Mr. Nolan has always entertained me with movies that are one paradigm shift from most Hollywood movies. Yes, most of his movies are genre movies. Yes, the characters are the exact ones found in other movies. However, he and his brother make their movies overachieve by setting these old mechanics and characters in such unique plot machinations.
Inception is no different. It is another great movie by Christopher Nolan. It is a beautifully shot, perfectly staged thriller that makes you an active participant throughout. The less you read about the plot, the better. Just know that it is a great story with fantastic action set pieces and a plot that make smile when the credits start rolling.
The acting is great throughout, with Hardy being the standout. He shames 3D technology because his acting shows that great acting is the only immersion technique any movie needs. That's not to say DiCaprio, Page, Levitt, and Watanabe have bad performances. To the contrary, everybody gives solid, textures performances that really propels the plot. I cannot recommend this movie enough.
