What Oscars do you think Inception will be nominated with?

So I have already come to the conclusion that, especially with 10 nomination for best picture at the oscars, Inception will be nominated for best picture. Now, what other nomination do you think the film would get? Here is what I think:

Best Picture
Best Director
Best Original Screenplay
Best Visual Effects ( which I think it will most definitely win )
Best Sound Editing
 Best Film Editing ( which I think it may, most definitly win )
Best Cinematography

I don't think the film will get an actor or actress nomination, but if it does, I do thing Marion Cotiliard will get a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Now, tell me what you think.

I'd agree with the above, but I would definitely add Best Costume Design. Everyone in the movie was dressed really well, especially Leo and JGL.

I can see it being nominated for all of those (though, of course, I want SPvtW to win for Film Editing....I can dream).

Since Oscar went to the ten movie nods for best picture, it's a guarantee.

@fulcilivez:
dont care. and its not a guarantee. especially for that reason. theres a ton of great movies this year, the Toronto Film Festival is good proof of this

@TwoOneFive: Yeah The Acedemy also likes picking big movies, Inception was a monster at the box office, and a really terrific film as well. I think it will win a few Oscars, hopefully best picture and best director.

It's probably a shoe-in for Best Picture. Since most of the other great films this year were small releases, like Valhalla Rising, that will get ignored. I personally would like The American to win, but I won't get my hopes up.

  • Best Picture
  • Best Director
  • Best Original Screenplay

Those are the major ones. I'm sure it will be nominated for a bunch of technical Oscars

look im saying its not a shoe in or a guarantee. it has a very good chance and it definitely deserves a nomination.

and uh... WTF are you talking about. First off, your theory on small films not winning is silly. All you have to do is look at last years winner. And two, theres some spectacular "small" (as in budget i suppose?) films that have premiered already to absolutely rave reviews like for instance BLACK SWAN, THE TOWN (well, maybe this one isn't small but its no blockbuster), THE KING'S SPEECH, THE SOCIAL NETWORK, SUBMARINE, 127 HOURS, HEREAFTER and more to come.

If Christopher Nolan doesn't win Best Director for this picture then I will have lost faith in humanity.

Best Picture.....I'm not sure of, we still have a few more months and something could come out and top it, although it seems unlikely. It deserves to get nominated at the least.

The film is also a shoo in for Best Original Screenplay, to write something this deep and complex on paper is very very very difficult and Nolan deserves credit for that.

@TheFilmKiller:
Yeah I agree but I also think so far he should win for Best Original Screenplay.

I think the OP has it nailed pretty well as to what categories Inception will get nods in.

All of them.

@popo: Who's his competition? Because if you think there is someone out there who did a better job directing a movie this year, please tell me so I can go watch that movie and judge for myself.

Nope. All the websites I've seen though have mixed to positive reviews, Rotten Tomatoes gives it 61% compared to Inceptions universal praise and 87%. Could it be nominated? Sure I guess, any movie has the chance of getting nominated, but usually the movies that were critically praise make it into the nomination list.

@TheFilmKiller: I haven't watch to much of this year films.

But this kind of movies rarely win Oscar for best director. Don't get me wrong I love Christopher Nolan and this film, but i don't really think he will win best director with Inception. But I would probably be happy if he did.
