Interstella 5555 is Daft Punk's album, Discovery, turned into a musical animation feature about four musicians from a different galaxy who are kidnapped and brought to Earth so the evil mastermind can get the last Golden Record he needs.

Interstella 5555 is an animated house musical film based on the Daft Punk hit album, Discovery.  It was a collaboration between Daft Punk and Toei Animation, under the supervision of Leiji Matsumoto. The film itself is told only with music, with no dialogue and very little sound effects, and is separated into episodes for each song.
 

Plot

Four blue skinned musicians from another galaxy are playing a concert when suddenly, they are kidnapped by several humans and brought onto a spaceship heading back to Earth. They are put into a process that replaced their memories and changed them to look human. Once the ship arrived on Earth, an evil manager plans to use them to earn the last Golden Record he needs for his evil plan.  

Meanwhile, on a Flying V guitar spaceship, a blue skinned man named Shep receives a distress signal telling of the kidnapping. He is in love with the female musician and sets off to rescue them. His ships arrives on earth, but cannot land properly and ends up crashing. 
 
The manager names the musicians "The Cresendolls", and hypnotizes them into playing until they become famous. Shep sees this and while they were playing a concert, manages to free 3 of the band members. When trying to free Stella, the female member, the manager blocks him, forcing them to leave without her. During the escape, Shep is mortally wounded and cannot save her. 
 
Stella is brought to an awards ceremony where The Cresendolls are nominated for a Golden Record Award, which the manager takes for his evil plan. As the manager is receiving the award, they free her and beckons her to follow. She is then taken to Shep, who is close to death. Shep reaches out his hand, and when she grabbed it, they entered a dream sequence and he revealed his feelings for her. Then, with his last breath, shows them a small figurines of each, which made them realize where they were actually from.  
 
After burying him under a big tree, the go to the mansion that the manager owned and find a book detailing his plans. He kidnapped aliens from different galaxies worthy of receiving a Golden Record, which, after getting 5,555, gave him the power to rule the universe. The Cresendolls were the final record he needed. They fight him and manage to throw the record into a pit, which he dives after. 
 
They go back to the Recording Agency and grabbed their memory disks, but one ended up revealing his true identity, and it became a huge news outbreak. They uncover Shep's old ship and retrofitted it to made it back to their home planet. When they leave, the spirit of the manager tries to stop them, but Shep's spirit stops the manager and allows them to go home. 
 
When they arrive home, they play in commemoration of their return, and a statue of Shep is erected for his heroic deeds and bravery.
