When It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns this September, you can expect the characters to be as venal as they've ever been, though there is one slight change: Rob McElhenney, who plays Mac, has gained 50 pounds between seasons, simply because he thought it would be a hilarious character trait. “We were a little on the fence about it for his own personal health and safety," his co-star Charlie Day told Screen Junkies, “but it has definitely made Mac a lot funnier.” We would have accepted the "I just had a baby" excuse for the extra poundage (since McElhenney and his co-star Kailin Olson are new parents), but that is some De Niro-level commitment.
