Here's hoping Reitman is the RIGHT MAN for this. (I hate myself.)
Here's hoping Reitman is the RIGHT MAN for this. (I hate myself.)
Coming off of last year's mega-hit, Up In The Air, it seems like Jason Reitman could do just about any project he wants. That apparently means another project with Diablo Cody, the writer of Reitman's Juno. When Reitman followed Juno with the outstanding Up In The Air, Cody followed with the abysmal Jennifer's Body, leaving those of us who defended her writing style feeling that maybe we had to rethink our position.

The news hit at Deadline that the pair would be teaming up again for Young Adult, starring Charlize Theron. She plays a writer relegated to the role of ghostwriter of books for young adults. She's had enough and sets out to find her identity. This involves going back to her high school days and reconnecting with her high school friends, loves, and hopes. Filming is set to begin in New York in November.

The story definitely doesn't get me excited, but I suppose on paper I wasn't too interested in Juno, either. As someone who plans on never attending any high school reunions, this one might be a hard sell for me. And I worry that this could end up being a step back for Reitman. What do you all think?

Love Reitman, but man... again with Cody? Let's just hope she is less pretentious than in her past efforts

Let the Reit One in. The Reit Stuff. Do the Reit Thing... There's plenty of work out there for him. (I hate myself more)

I'm sorry, do people still think Juno is good? That was the one of the most painful movies I've seen in my life, how the fuck she won best Screenplay, the shit the characters say, the worst part about Juno, is beyond me.

I'm interested in anything Reitman does, I own and love all three of his movies.

I'm not the biggest fan of Juno, but I loved Up in the Air.

Young adult seems like more of the same, with a less charming actor(ress). I really think Reitman should branch out to other genres.

I'm not sure about the whole going backwards to move forwards plot.  High school? To find your identity?  I really didn't find any hint of my identity until I went to college, and, in fact, I'm still figuring out who I am (like most of us). I though JUNO was interesting; at times the characters were trying to be too cool, as though they were aware that we were watching.  I'm a fan of Reitman; UP IN THE AIR got me to the theater, but JUNO did not.  If Cody's writing has improved, I might see this one.  Might.

I can enjoy Juno but the dialogue in that movie (both of her movies in fact) just gets so damn annoying.  If that's her only distinguishable writing characteristic then I really dont nee to see another Diablo Cody movie regardless of who is directing.

I actually loved Juno. Then again, I love anything with Ellen Page.

That's disappointing to hear. I somewhat enjoyed Juno, but I like Reitman's other stuff more.

Mother fucker.

I liked Juno despite everything it did to make me not like it, but that was all thanks to Jason Reitman. Diablo Cody is the worst and her dialogue is awful and Reitman is taking a serious step back to do another project with her.

Still can't really believe she won that Oscar. Jesus.

The only high school reunion I want to attend is Romy and Michele's.

Jennifer's Body was a good movie in my opinion, and I like Diablo Cody's writing style. Sadly I am in the minority here.

I thought Juno was a terrible movie. The dialogue was so forced and eugh. I'm glad she had nothing to do with Up in the Air.
