Nothing I can say would make this any sadder.
Nothing I can say would make this any sadder.
I don't visit TMZ very often, and now I'm kind of wishing I hadn't gone over there today, because they're pointing out this casting call page by Doron Ofir Casting for what sounds suspiciously like a southern-ized version of Jersey Shore. Will it be as awful as waiting for your nail to fall off after stubbing your toe? You betcha. Will it be amazingly popular and serve as a cultural touchstone for late-night monologues and lazy comedians for the next couple of years? Also, yes.

Now, I've got family in the south, and I've spent a couple of long vacations down Alabama way, so trust me when I say that those kids know how to party, and also have the kinds of life priorities that lead to spending more on their cars than on their homes, or babysitting their grandkids by the time they're 30 years old. So this will probably be a trainwreck of epic proportions, but like any good trainwreck, you probably won't be able to tear your eyes away. Unless, of course, you prefer to stick with entertainment with a shred of dignity attached to it.

A couple months ago they put out an almost identical casting call in Boston. Replace "y'all" with "wicked" and it's basically the same awful press release.

Oh thank FSM, I originally read that as "South Jersey Shore" and started to freak out thinking that those dirty Northern NJ folk were heading down my way.

As a frequent watcher of anything with the "...of Love" suffix, no, I don't prefer entertainment with any dignity whatsoever. I missed the Jersey Shore bandwagon when that rolled into town. I won't miss this.

Holler if You're Blue Coller

This ought to be good. I wonder what kind of person responds to these types of casting calls? Does it occur to them that they'd make a compelling stereotypical character for a reality series? I'll never understand it, but as long as it continues spawning great television and nobody I know gets involved, I'm all for it.

Just what us Southerners need, a TV show that rounds up all the local trash they can find and puts it on TV for the masses............great..........
