Hustle. Loyalty. Respect. Rise above hate. John Cena in the biggest name in World Wrestling Entertainment. The 3 time United States, 2 time Tag Team, 2 Time World Heavyweight and the 10 time WWE Champ is here!
John Cena is one of the WWE's top faces (good guys) and currently competes on the RAW brand.
Cena started his career in the WWE by accepting an open challenge from Kurt Angle on June 27, 2002. Shortly after losing this challenge, he turned into a heel (bad guy) and took on the gimmick of a white rapper.
As a rapper, Cena would cut promos using rhymes and wear jean shorts and a baseball cap. His catchphrase was "Word Life" and declared himself the "Doctor of Thuganomics." While feuding with Brock Lesnar, Cena introduced his finishing move, named the FU. He would later add an STF submission to his set of finishers which he called the STFU.
In 2003, John Cena became a face again and in 2004 he won the WWE United States Championship from the Big Show at WrestleMania XX, marking his first championship in the company. A year later a WrestleMania 21 he would capture his first WWE Championship by defeating JBL. With both of these championships, he rejected the standard belts and replaced them with "spinner" belts. While his version of the United States Championship disappeared after he lost the title (the belt was destroyed by JBL), his WWE Championship design is still used today, even when he is not champion.
Cena was drafted the RAW brand on June 6, 2005 and has remained there ever since. His rapper gimmick faded away and moved more into a marine one, with him wearing dog tags and saluting the crowd. His current gimmick uses some elements of this, but it is now mostly just him being himself. He has continued to have success on RAW and is still one of the most well known superstars around the world.
