Kaiju

In general, Kaiju films are Japanese movies starring giant monsters (well, actually they're actors inside rubber suits). But since the birth of the Kaiju films, the genre has grown and spread to other media and countries. For example, there are Kaiju TV shows, animated shows, comic books and video games. There are Korean, Chinese and even American kaiju (although the American versions tend to either be ironic or homages).

Shinya Tsukamoto's theater troupe/film company is called the Kaiju Theater.
